I have bought and played EU, EUII, HOI and Victoria (my favorite) with varying dwgrees of satisfaction. With that said..... I have to say that I MUCH prefer turn-based games, I do think that the turn-based games with simultaneous resolution are superior to the "I-move-You-move" variety. And HOI2's "RTS" style engine can be beaten into approximating this close enough for me to make it palatable (as they may have intended). I suggest that the developers make a few more options in the stop-action area available to us turn-based types to help us simulate our type of game. I have no specific suggestions, but you guys are quite clever and I have no doubt whatsovever that you can do so!

Another item I think the game would benefit greatly from is executive summaries of events. The hurricane of reports is unmanageable and gameplay is slowed to a crawl if one watches all of them. Yet, to filter some out is dangerous. Could an option for "summaries" be introduced? What I have in mind is the ability to have the game stop every week or bi-weekly or whatever and give a summary of events such as areas won/lost, major battles, casualties, etc. This is not as easy as it sounds, but what a help it would be! I think it could add hugely to enjoyment and gameplay.

Actually if you think about it in HOI2, 1 hour could be considered as 1 turn. Just put yourself at a moderate speed. And pause every hour. ;)

Yes, in hoi2 you can stop the time whenever you want and make your own conclusions. Statistics page should help you. The map too. So everything is in your hands, and you can make the history.
That's what I like in HOI2 :)

What I need is support for 4 screens in HOI2, then I'd have one screen for the main action, one for tech, one for production, 2 for statistics, and one to look at the forums :)

For this level of game I cannot imagine turns as less than at least a week. The game certainly begins to break down in terms of both management and accuracy as you squeeze the time frame, in my opinion.

Be that as it may, the design does allow people to micromanage both control and feedback as they wish. What I'd like is more options for both stopping the action and for the reporting format/filters. I think both are desirable for a model of events on this scale.
