I'm going to add the name of HMS Electra to the mix. An E class destroyer of the Royal Navy.
One of the escorting destroyers for:
* Hood and Prince of Wales when they set out on their fateful encounter with Bismarck and Prinz Eugan (although she'd been detached with the other 3 destroyers to extend the seach area and arrived back after the battle)
* Convoy PQ17 before being detached when the Admiralty thought Tirpitz was about to attack
* Prince of Wales and Repulse on their sally up the Malayan coast looking for Japanese invasion forces and meeting overwhelming air attacks instead
* Exeter during the Battle of the Java Sea (both were sunk)
Not very auspicious you may think, but to me she just sums up the 'never say die' attitude that seemed to prevail back then, never mind the odds, up and at 'em!
