Favourite Major to play as?

Personally I prefer the UK because it's the easiest way to experience all 3 combat arms, and gives a nice relaxing experience once you're alone on your island. Italy's also fun because you can beat up the Balkans and let Germany handle a major war. The problem then of course is that Germany loose that major war, but hey. You started as Italy, you didn't plan on winning.

Germany and then the USSR. Every time I play an overhaul mod for the first time like Kaiserreich, Great War mod, Endsieg etc, I always first play as Germany and then Russia for my second game. USA is my least favorite major, behind even France and UK.

Yeah, I don't see the attraction of waiting half the game just so you can crush everything in sight with 200 military factories.

It has several strong paths, strong geographical position, strong industry but enough early nerfs to be annoying to play "historically"

USSR. We must bring the revolution to the world and save our comrades abroad.

As a second pick I enjoy the UK because of its many options for what to do. Act early to intervene and knock out Japan? Save France? Win Africa? Bomb Europe? Secure Scandinavia? The world is your oyster, and that's jut on staying democratic. If you're willing to sully yourself and flip ideology you can just swallow the world at your whim.

Funny, that's exactly why I like playing US. I wouldn't say they're my favorite though. Mine would probably be Italy, then Soviets or Japan.

Playing as the USSR is fun, It's fun to fight the germans then spread the Revolution, like @Tarkilth said, not that I support communism, just fun to see the alternative history outcome.


Also, playing as France and going communist is also fun, I've beaten the germans as communist france and then puppeted both germany and Italy.

Germany, since I like the "plot progression". First there's a relatively short buildup period, then there is the conquest of Europe where I try to seize as much territory as possible to make me as powerful as possible before I invade the USSR.

Also the USSR, because I like the challenge of being invaded by a superior enemy and having to delay them for as long as possible until I can turn the tide and push them all the way back to Berlin.

The UK is just "cool" to play with, and has lots of naval action and allows me to experience every theater.

France and the US I pretty much never play. I don't think I've even attempted a serious campaign as the USA.

Soviet Union. Spreading the revolution with OP Trotsky never gets old for me.

Also France (specifically historical/democratic France) because, while no major is particularly "hard", France has a tricky enough start to feel like you're overcoming the odds a bit.

Soviets or Britain. US is too tedious, France too RNGy. I have 0 desire to play Germany or Italy, Japan only once Tiger hits.

France is easily my favorite.
Defensive wars aren't that interesting for now, but I still like the feeling of overcoming the obstacles France has and striking back against the Reich.

Well for me it has to be the USSR. I like deleting all its units and rebuilding from scratch. I would always changed its military Doctrine I will also change his navel doctor in the Air Force. With the features coming in March gameplay should be more interesting.

Speaking of, I have a question I've had for a while.

What is it that makes the Soviet Union so bad? Is it their "great purge" modifier or their terrible units? Because even with a player I've only seen them lose to a competent Germany.

combination of great purge, the nkvd division, the AI going through mobilization laws step by step, 1 less research slot, and province density

Japan... Navy,Air and land combat first against china then USSR and/or allies then eventually the USA. No other nations have so much to do with limited industrial power. Forget the OP USA,USSR,GERMANY, this time you don't have 250+ factories and shipyards to roll on everything, your skill will matter.
