And for anyone who has read 'A distant mirror' by Barbara Tuchman, you can play the 'de Coucy' dynasty to. The father of Enguerrand (also called Enguerrand) is count of Vermandois in 1337.

I dunno if anyone has mentioned this yet, but if you're playing a mod that makes Pagans playable, the House of Romanov exists at 1066 as the Lappish Chiefs of the Samoyeds in Siberia.

Also gonna have to agree with the van Vlaanderens. Nothing better than screwing over the Frankish monarchy with your incredibly rich and powerful duchy ;)

:) Except those are not the same Romanovs without any Rurikid blood. More like very distant Siberian cousins to future tsars of Muscovy.

There are a lot of little dynasties I like, but i have a special soft spot for the Af Sverkers, my very first game(also one of my first games total) as them I ended up taking the Throne of Sweden, and then losing the election eventually and then losing my homeland and being left with the duchy of Lithuania, from there I educated my character from a randomly generated Lithuanian high martial courtier, who taught him Lithuanian culture. From there that character ended up consolidating the kingdom of Lithuania, and then Rus, and then 3 generations later they returned to reclaim Sweden. After that they conquered most of the east, and after initial defeats against the Golden Horde, they fought back and with aid from the Teutonic Order repelled them to the edges of the map. A cadet branch eventually gained favor in the HRE and rose to the position of elected Emperor as well.

I don't remember how many kingdoms I had at the end, but it was before the Empire patch, but man, that is still my favorite game to date. Another favorite was the Halani dynasty of Alania that I educated to be Zoroastrian and recreated some sort of Scythia reborn, but failed defending against the Mongol onslaught.

That sounds great. I wish that had been an AAR.

I love playing as the Alans. :)

I could probably recreate that now, because I did that before they added the kingdom of Alania, and in fact I modded slightly the old kingdom of Khazaria(so it could be creatable), and that was what I formed! Alan players unite! :D

I could write an AAR, but alas, I am lazy and time constrained.
