@Conquerer1234 I did trial a few versions using the war flag but none of them looked as nice if I'm honest. Tried surrounding the text with outlined white circles too but that still didn't look right. Considering the less than organised nature of any Kwangtung 'state' one could justify just using the national flag as a simple choice based on practicality (draw some characters on your flags and you've got your new flag) and aesthetics too.

Japanese War flags along with regular Japanese national flags alike had various markings on the flags which indicated that flag being given as a gift during wartime.

@Conquerer1234 As I mentioned any designs with the War Flag just don't work out as well compared to those using the national flag. Plain text doesn't stand out well enough and highlighting it by other means seems far too professional for a flag that really is likely to be a makeshift standard, considering the army's situation. Could just use the war flag on its own but that seems a bit bland and generic, and loses the throwback to the February 26 Incident. From what I've seen defacing the national flag seems to be more common in the army than defacing the war flag; possibly due to the association between the rising sun design and the navy (with the variant you posted being a naval one).

An example of why the War Flag really doesn't work as well with text added.

The issue with using the 2-26 inspired flag for the Kwantung controlled Manchuria is it's similarities to the regular Japanese flag.

In the end it's Pako's call to make. Personally I feel its different enough compared to the regular national flag to work fine, but each to their own.

Feel like a bit of an idiot for not considering such a solution. Nice practical design, I'm certainly a fan.

On a related note. If one wanted to use a slogan other than Hakkō ichiu there's always the Sonnō Tōkan (尊皇討奸) 'Revere the Emperor, Destroy the Traitors', motto of the 2-26 rebels - and an obvious play on Sonnō jōi. Only concern with using it is that I'm not aware of it ever being used outside of 2-26, so can't say if it was ever of any relevance afterwards. Definitely fitting though, with the Tokyo authorities surrendering and the fight continuing in China.

that design looks great, I mean does the Kwangtung Army think the emperor a traitor or do they think he has been forced to work with the allied occupation forces?

Would the axis even be that interested in supporting Manchuko? Wouldn't make more sense to work with the nationalists? The nationalist seem to have a growing fascist movement, which seems quite ready to take over. The nationalist also seem to have a far better chance of victory then Manchuko.

Would the Kwantung generals even want there help? If these guys are fanatical enough that they would rather hold out in Manchuria then surrender, then imagine how much they hate Germany. The same Germany that betrayed them in 1945 and signed a separate peace with the allies, abandoning there former ally.

The Kwantung Army is probably going to wait for WW3 to break out then use that to reclaim their empire (I mean it is very pragmatic for them because going to China is possibly suicidal(how the Soviets and Americans react is unknown, but likely they will not be pleased with an Imperial Japan remnant gaining China) but who truly knows if they will survive that long as an independent entity or will the Manchurian Population overthrow the Army and possibly install the Manchurian Empire or rejoin China.

Going off of that, I think Pu-Yi and his ministers would actually relish this chance to actually get out from under the Japanese shadow; there's no getting around the fact that they were of course, the subordinate one in the relationship. With this in mind, I actually think the Qing flag or some mild modification of it would be sufficient.

I think they would not care too much about the signing of peace with the Reich. The Reich won the war mostly, so that wouldn't be too much of an issue. Also while there was co-operation it was not a full alliance since they did not also attack the Soviet Union.
Axis would support them without a thought. If they support the Turkestan government to weaken SU, they would support Kwantung to keep a check on Asia and have a foothold there.
Nationalist China would rely more on the aid of the Allies in the Civil War and only after the far right takes over would the Axis support them. If people point out the hatred between China and Japanese forces as before, than they shouldn't forget, that the Reich was an ally and supplier of Japan for years in the war. I don't think too many people would be happy with an immediate Reich aid. (The von Falkenhausen days are long gone.)

I would also like to add a flag. It looks a bit similar to the Tokugawa Shogunate flag, which the Kwantung generals would probably relate to in ideals.
latest

But I like the last two ones too. The Qing looking and the fourth one. The Qing looking could be an expansionist/monarchist flag. The fourth could be an isolationist Manchuria flag.
For the name: Empire of Manchuria would be great.

for the neutral Manchurian Empire/Manchukuo the flag should either be the regular Manchukuo flag or the flag of the Fengtian Clique.
