I was speaking of the americans AFTER the liberation of denmark, in RL but the nazis could argue that if circumstances change, they have a base there (see the race conflict; the reich made a difference between northern europeans and mediterranean people) (from the alternatehistoryhub "what if nazi germany won world war 2"
There is no reason to keep that territories as I stated, the germans could keep their garrisons in the area even after giving them to the italians (why the kurwaa would Germany keep athens and some minor islands if the italians can do the same anyway?), the italians also have the regia marina to help them

Yeah, but america build airfields there for b52 bombers and after the cold war, they gave it back to the danish. As i said in another way some germans like hermann goring would argue to hold such a strategic position for bombing africa, for the event, that italy breaks away, and after the end of hitler italy occupies it anyway
Also the nazis considered the mediterraen as a lower race, witch would automatically lead to conflicts. So why should the germans give important strategic positions to "untermenschen"

If Hitler pushed italy from the axis they would immediately join the allies as they did OTL, a invasion would cause WWIII

If i were the nazis i wouldnt give back so strategic positions to the italians, also to join the allies they would have to give up all their colonial empire. Also the nazis would give back the bases when no war could break out anymore (its cold war)
