My try on a translation is

The Version 03 was also build by Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz and Gräf & Stift. The versions are easy to distinguish, they have different cabs.

I'm now declaring AJP as the full winner since he was the first to mention each of the key bits of information. I can't comment on the translation of the German but thankyou all for having a go, I'm sure it is appreciated. In reality all the offered translations are quite reasonable. If you consider Panzerkampfwagen translates as tank rather than armoured battle wagon then any sort of english name for the vehicle would be a reasonable translation.

The landing in Viipuri is starting to look like a problem as two new defending divisions have turned up. The shore bombardment keeps the situation reasonably favourable and my divisions can keep this attack up for a very long time at this rate but I don’t like such unpredictable situations especially when I cannot break off the attack.

Enemy units retreating from Slonim are now under concentrated air attack and will be taking substantial losses. This is the flower of the Russian’s northern mobile armies and will soon be a smoking ruin. Removing them via this method will probably save some trouble later although they would probably not form such a problem as the southern mobile forces. The most important aspect is to simply provide something useful for my excessive air force to do.

We get to see Russian fighters being shot up with the repeat battles allowing some guidance on losses. The Russians appear to have taken relatively few losses from the first battle, which is rather disappointing, but they remain totally depleted in org and hence ineffective for air intervention. My loss ratio will be excellent since I’ve taken no detectable losses but they have not been eliminated.

The Viipuri defenders have been defeated but yet more divisions turn up, this time with two regiments of KV1s. Fortunately KV1s are rubbish in HOI2 and hence not a serious threat to the landing.

One hour later something really weird has happened. My troops have arrived ashore and occupied Leningrad and Viipuri. I haven’t seen this effect before but the first mountain division is ashore and I own Viipuri but the combat is still rated as me attacking the two Russian divisions. Presumably this is what happens if amphibious landings are still fighting after the full landing period has expired. Once these two Russian divisions are defeated I will have an “at risk” landing force of one single division to defend this province.

To make things worse the next morning brings the encounter between the Kriegsmarine and the now portless Russian fleet. They are no match for me but since they are all submarines this could go on for sometime. My shore bombardment has been temporarily disrupted. The battle appears to end after 2 hours with the loss of one Russian destroyer flotilla but also appears to continue with the submarines (see below). I don’t know why this is but assume it is a vagary of the new Doomsday naval behaviour.

Tracking the progress of the Viipuri battle soon makes it obvious that victory is immanent. Notice the total lack of visible casualties on the German mountain divisions. The shore bombardment helps a lot with this side of things so it is disappointing that it is currently blocked by the naval action.

The naval battle against the submarines continues into the early afternoon and only a single flotilla is sunk. Submarines are an excellent method for keeping carrier fleets occupied whilst things happen elsewhere.

returning to the main event we found Rocketman striking into the Crimea against the last major concentration of relatively unscathed Russian troops. The odds are quite acceptable for clear terrain with something like 4:1 effective odds. The attack is a quick dash straight for Kerch in the hope that the Russians will be outrun and pocketed in the Crimea.

There is a further strike against Rostov aimed at outrunning Russian forces to finally try and finish off the remaining Russian mobile forces. I am guessing that there are no Russian units still able escape except for mobile divisions. My panzer groups are starting to lose strength from dropped of groups to occupy retreat provinces and maintain the so called encirclement of the “virtual” pockets.

A quick detailed glance shows everything roughly in order. The resource situation looks slightly dodgy until you work out just how big those stockpiles are. I am running at peak oil consumption and there is still enough stockpiled for about 540 days of continuous consumption at this level. If all units are brought to a standstill then oil consumption goes down to stasis (does not exceed production).

TC levels remain acceptable and appear to have slightly improved due to reduced consumption. This is odd since everyone is still moving.

Manpower is slightly decreased over the last week but there is now an accumulated deficit of 3.5. The source of this is unclear but mounting air losses are not being replaced and 3.5 manpower could be as few as 220 aircraft.

Production continues to run a massive and unnecessary supply surplus. The most significant issue is the pitiful cost of reinforcements. This is a reflection of the minimalist losses that I am taking.

Soviet submarines continue to harass the fleet but are no longer an issue as all land fighting is now over and the troops are ashore. In this extremely unequal battle we actually manage to sink the entire force.

Russian air units continue to appear and there must be some suspicion that this is a new unit. Any human player would be sensible enough to have abandoned Lida to fighter type units only since Russian bombers have no chance to operate in this area.

Additional troops have been landed at Leningrad and I have launched an attack to take advantage of the available naval support. This makes this a highly effective attack and may help expand the terminus for the great strike north when it occurs.

Small groups of units heading for the phase 3 start line are exposed to counter-attack risks. I have an HQ travelling alone due to it lagging behind (not upgraded yet). Russian incompetence makes their attack amazingly inefficient so I leave it to develop a little before I decide whether to retreat. It will soon be night inflicting even more pain on the enemy.

The HQ may have taken a few casualties but they have been all replaced even before I have decided to retreat it. It has fought through the night but day time combat is obviously out of the question. Other units are rushing to the province using support defence but have not arrived yet.

The bombing of Roslavl continues. Odds are quite good and units are beginning to disappear. The key issue is that no Russian units are dug in, they are all still in movement towards their new frontline (wherever that is).
