It seems the Russians are able to have quite a lot of deep defense, I guess we are being to see how the plan went astray as you alluded to earlier. Will anyone at German strategic command be disclipined for the reckless attack by the 11th Armeecorps on Kharkov, or will they just end up blaming the poor field general Hannibal?

I know it's a bit OT, but has anyone info on the usefulness of the Panzerbüchse 41?

Armed with the pz.gr.41 APCR even at very short ranges was incapable of dealing with russian tanks, better if used against apc or armored cars, but afaik it was a really hopeless weapon. Anyone knows a role for which is was well suited instead?

Ric O'Shea It would be mean to blame Hannibal for the attack since it was carried out reasonably expertly. This attacked was allowed to progress since I couldn't be bothered to take the time to do it properly. This a common problem when you start feeling you don't want to sacrifice 2 days extra to do somethintg "efficiently". In the circumstances I should have wasted the time and saved a tiny bit of manpower. It is the minor scale that let it through and yet it is an excellent model for the explanation attached to it. Without the battle I could not have told the story and it does add to the technical background of the AAR.

Armour penetration at short range was good, much better than the 37mm "door knocker" but still well short of the long 50mm anti-tank gun. It was perfectly capable of defeating all contemporary Russian tanks although the most heavily armoured could only be taken out at point blank range. Its biggest weakness was very short range and rapid loss of penetration with distance. This meant its superior penetration was only useful when it was used more like a bazooka than an anti-tank gun. Being a cone bore weapon it suffered from very high barrel wear. It was in quite limited use but was an ideal AT weapon for issue to paratroops due to its extreme light weight.

GhostWriter The wording of the question identifies that the majority of eligible voters oppose the takeover but does not say whether they will vote. This means that if sufficient "against" voters do not vote then the "for" side can win. As you can see this does not mean winning without a majority of votes cast. This is actually highly pertinent to real life as "against" voters are far more likely to not bother than "for" voters. For this reason many companies define the takeover rules based on achieving a defined percentage of eligible votes rather than votes cast.

Active in the France campaign (in a small way). Active in the Yugoslav and Swiss campaigns resulting in award of a bronze star. Silver star awarded for the capture of Kiev (in expectation of no more dramatic achievement in the East. Currently advancing from Kiev towards Moscow area.

Kiev falls. A garrison will be permanently left here so air units can be immediately brought forward to operate from this airfield. Unfortunately it is already far behind German lines but is still a very useful base.

The continuing breakneck advancing puts a heavy strain on German forces and the provision of properly mechanised refreshment support is critical for maintaining morale.

Russian units from Perekop are turning up in Melitopol and causing brief battles. There is now a race between Russian troops retreating eastwards and German troops racing intercept. I’m guessing that some will be intercepted in Melitopol but further troops will be intercepted at Stalino and may be even as far east as Rostov.

At last it is time for the mountain troops to land at Leningrad. My bombers flying from Stockholm have done a good job on the defenders with just the tinniest fragment of an HQ left. The only worry here is the massive stack next door which is heading south (for now). The landing will take some time but I guess its success is not in doubt.

The coastal defences consist of nothing more than the commanding General and his staff in this pillbox. It may be strongly defended but the rest of the province is wide open.

The strike north by the northern flank is starting to look rather too precarious so it is time to establish a wider and more easily defended base line ready for phase 3. This panzer group has little more to do other maintain this position whilst the southern forces are brought forward. This may take some time.

The air battle is almost incidental to this image with the highlight being the Russians construction of a tower of Babel. If they move it a bit further south then they will be able to capture Riga simply by stepping off the top.

The final quota of Russian armour reach Korosten and are eliminated. This is the final end of the northern half of the Soviet defences south of the marshes. Every single one of their divisions has been overtaken and destroyed.

Just to show status and progress of the German airborne capability. We should have full availability for the next drop in about 7 days. The strategic redeployment is almost exactly synchronised with the transport’s org recovery (more by luck than judgement)

The landing in Viipuri has been blocked by the arrival of Soviet reinforcements. Unfortunately there is no longer a method for cancelling the landing and therefore we must carry on until successful or defeated. The weather has worsened and the landing conditions are now far from ideal.

Pinsk has been occupied by major infantry forces and in an effort to keep this corner stable there are a variety of moves forward redistributing forces within the marshes. All enemy unit losses in this sector remain a matter of air power.
