April 12th-14th 1945

On the western flank my forces are beginning to build up but this attack uses absolutely everything available in the area. Other forces are further south in the mountains but in practice many days away. To the north and east there is nothing but scattered HQs. If I am allowed to take Yuma this forms a very threatening position against the US forces on the coast but a forward position like that is easily severely threatened if anything comes down between the mountain ranges to the north. I am badly outnumbered in this theatre and cannot rely on being able to do much more that harass the enemy.
German forces have finally managed to advance into Monroe but the severe fighting has so depleted my org that it appears I may not be able to hold the position. In terms of fighting power the position isn't too bad but I cannot afford any significant fighting with any divisions at zero org.
Unfortunately I constrained by the "no new orders" bug (well I call it a bug) and since these divisions were recently attacking I cannot order them to retreat.
Constant air patrols across Florida and the whole east coast very rarely encounter anything but when they do the battles are quite effective. New enemy units are intermittent but do appear every few days.
I'm now facing massive US attacks a bit further north and I am beginning to feel like my attempts to cling to the Mississippi are doomed to failure. Again the enemy is attacking at a disadvantage in effective firepower but is threatening to overwhelm by shear numbers. They have a great deal more org to lose than I have and can still win with a 5:1 loss ratio in my favour.
The battle of Monroe is over and I now have a corps in full retreat. They have chosen quite the wrong direction as this retreat will take ages compared with going north (which is what I wanted). Losses haven't been too heavy so they will be coming back.
We have now advanced into Canada but there is an immediate encounter with fresh enemy troops. This far north we are exposed to some wintery weather conditions so I will have to be a little careful about what activities I pursue here. The enemy attack can be resisted if air power comes to the rescue but I am feeling more than a little exposed this far ahead of everyone else. We will try to defend here and then head south to expand the position in the northern US.
An HQ of itinerant gamblers has managed to derail the advance northwards on the western flank. They defeat the HQ in Delano Peak and then hold on long enough to be reinforced. I am proven right; the western flank is subject to arbitrary disruption. This can be slowly corrected with bombing of the more isolated enemy units and some org regain.
