Across the Atlantic we have managed to find and heavily damage a US submarine before it can sink anything. This makes a nice change. (All cheer)
No sooner have I invaded the USA than they begin bombing their own populace. It really is amazing how quickly the AI grabs at this sort of opportunity. For now I'm really not too bothered about this. Resource losses are utterly irrelevant as I lack the convoys to shift them anyway and even IC has limited yield.
More German forces are rushing into the theatre and the US dispute over Monroe is starting to tail off a little. Things are starting to look a bit more stable and optimistic.
Constant bombing of enemy troops is now being hampered by static positions. On the lower Mississippi my position is secure and hence across the river enemy troops are digging in. This seriously detracts from the bombing campaign.
More US troops arrive in Monroe. These look like returnees, ie I have fought them before, they've recovered a few days org and are back but still well below full strength. This is a promising development as Monroe could develop nicely into a Verdun type battle of attrition but heavily weighted in my favour. As long as I maintain a good combat ratio I can fight enemy divisions to destruction at limited cost. This was the technique that I principally applied in Edge of Darkness but it yields a lower loss ratio than earlier successes in Fatherland. I would therefore prefer a manoeuvre based solution but Verdun is acceptable to keep the enemy focus in the wrong place.
I now declare this bombing mildly irritating and it looks like that is the threshold for triggering a response. I lack the airfield capacity to properly support interceptors but I will have to move some in anyway. Let's just hope they don't have too much fighting to do.
