This strategic bomber group is intercepted twice (this is the first battle) and seems to have become obsessed with transfer between north and South America. It’s the old story of destroying the AI air force as it pointlessly and repeatedly redeploys. North America would be a perfectly good base for attacking my Caribbean holdings but for some reason moving elsewhere is a little too attractive.
My two TAC groups that were badly damaged earlier on have now been grounded but air cover is still being carried out by other tactical bomber groups.

Various minor air battles
This is the usual depressing submarine engagement. The u-boats manage to inflict a fair bit of damage but suffer 30 pts of damage in return. I mean, come on, they outnumber the enemy combat vessels 12:1 and still have severe difficulties.
I think we are coming to the end of the enemy’s operational naval bomber force but if I ground my air defence force things could start up again any time.
A support fleet arrives and finishes off the enemy fleet but rather amazingly the u-boats rush in and one gets sunk. Oh *** they are so useless, I really wish I had never built them (add your own selection of expletives). They have singularly failed to perform any useful purpose and a few dozen destroyers would it seems have been much more valuable. I guess this is why there were major changes for Armageddon.

1 x Gulf of Venezuela
This is at least something vaguely useful. I have ignored all of the radar techs so far since they don’t actually do anything in game except to radar stations and since they are essentially defensive I don’t build them. This is definitely a deficiency in the game which is fixed by many of the mods.
Canadian force counts are a complete lie since they are involved in major cross loaning of forces with the other allies.
It looks like the US has plenty of naval bombers left operational. Not only have I caught a significant group (and given them a severe pounding) but it looks like there is another group of 4 operating to the north of the Bahamas. I guess the air defence missions are going to have to continue for some time.
1 x Yucatan Channel
We have a bit of activity developing east of the Antilles what initially looks like a dangerous US fleet which isn’t and a minor Argentine presence. The US fleet has intercepted a troop transport operation but there are 8 NAVs overhead and they really aren’t going to do very well.
After the battle the main transport group present is showing some significant damage suggesting that a few repairs might be sensible before sending it out again. Causing minor delays is about the only success against the troop build up that the allies have had so far. I do have a phobia about losing troops during naval transport so I am being quite careful about the risk.
