February 3rd-8th 1944
14:00 February 3rd 1944
Februrary third is a day of naval battles and little else with this one illustrating a new frontline west of Jamaica where the Kriegsmarine and the Luftwaffe are cooperating (alright then – competing). Total battles for the day are three in the Gulf of Venezuela, two in the South Sargasso Sea, one in the Lesser Antilles, one in Windward passage and one in Mayaguana passage. Just as busy as yesterday.

This is a fairly big step for the Kriegsmarine resulting in a significant improvement in org across the fleet. This is less important for the gunfire groups but both org bonus and morale bonus should make a discernable difference to org recovery rates for the carrier force enabling an improved port strike capability. Mind you, I’m not sure how much more opportunity I will get to use it. Really the best chance is Brazilian fleets running for cover after trying to intervene although they don’t seem that keen given how many ships they have.
It would be quite interesting if ALL the allied fleets headed for the Caribbean and launched a mass attack.

I can’t resist showing this – I still hate submarines, despite how useless they are. Its always nice to see the Luftwaffe sinking one.
Through the rest of the day the naval battles are…
Windward Passage (3)
North Antilles Shelf

The marines are now ashore in Puerto Rico so the transport fleet is heading for port to pick them up. I guess its about time for another operation so where next?

These landings have also completed but in this case the troops will re-embark from the beaches. This is definitely quicker than heading for port when there are two islands to visit and only one fleet.

This is the next operation, finish clearing the Antilles area and capture all the islands. This group operates as a single supply area so I will be using to set up a large collection of big airbases although it will take time to build up. Ultimately it will be the org up zone for air units passing into the forward bases. The operation is partially marines landing and will be supplemented by some single infantry divisions which are currently loading from the beach in Guadelope.

Next morning some advances have completed and the spare occupation divisions are aboard. This means I can extend the landings to cover all the remaining islands including the defended one. The battle isn’t much of a contest due to support.

With a single amphibious fleet clearly adequate for the Antilles my second amphibious force has moved west and now we are sorting out Santo Domingo. This island has two independent nations on it and I guess we will soon have some more proper German territory. The enemy troops are impressively advanced no doubt using lots of US equipment.
