SEVEN DAYS THAT SHOOK THE WORLD
21:00 April 5th 1939
France declares war on Germany. Although widely reported in the German media as an unprovoked attack, in truth the German border guards pulling faces at French border guards and doing frog impressions is believed to have had something to do with it. Poland, despite their non-aggression pact, has also declared war on us. This will cost them dear (well lots of belligerence at least and now doubt a fair bit of dissent all round, oh – um and maybe a few arms and legs cut off).

Despite the French declaring war in an evening broadcast there were no hostilities on 5th April and I am going to declare the official start of the war to be midnight (00.00 6th April 1939).
As Ghostwriter pointed out, I am now quaking in my boots. In reality the trigger is simply reloading from a saved game (seems a pretty poor reason). The game ran 5 days from the reloaded save before this DOW. Having run it through this, hands off, 7 or 8 times and can vouch for this being consistent behaviour with only minor variations in the time to DOW.
April 5th 1939 (b)
As part of pre-war planning the fleet has put to see. The Kriegsmarine under Kenneth the Great is camped of Scapa Flow in an unambiguous message to the British – we aren’t scared of you. The submarine fleet (under Blaues Emu) is (sorry about this) just a decoy to attract British naval bombers and keep them away from my carriers. We just have to hope that their commander can escape.
We’re not scared.
I guess this is the first time I have seen the beginning of the most devastating war of all times commented with Monty Python pictures... simply hilarious!
And all hell breaks loose but Im ready to lead my Messerschmitts against RAF pilots!

This is like the opposite of your last AAR. There, your troops were always inferior, because of difficulty, and you used huge numbers. Here, your troops are superior, fighting masses of enemy troops.
Kasakka Unfortunately, I feel that they haven't got the numbers (yet), or at least not according to prufrock's spies (and do we trust them? )

EvilSanta I'd prefer it if you used the frontline Fw190s rather than the Messerschmitt reserves.
DirtyCommiePuke It is a bit like the opposite of my last AAR but even there I used so technological superiority in the campaign against the Axis I have to admit I get tired of having to always fight with inferior troops when in the case of Germany my troops should be superior. The standard CEV (Combat Effectiveness Value) of the Germans against the Allies was 1.2 for most of the war so really I should have 40% experience for all of my units to simulate this. As it is I have an initial CEV of 1.1 from my 20% starting experience.

I can't wait to see how you do now that hostilities have commenced. On the surface it seems that the industrial capacity arrayed against you is somewhat overwhelming but I wouldn't bet against you to pull it off.

THE FIRST DAY
00.00 April 6th 1939
Midnight brings the first combat of the war with German Fallschirmjäger dropping on the Polish airfield outside Danzig. They have no difficulty capturing the entire area and disposing of numbers of Polish aircraft. Unfortunately they are a little too thorough and the intelligence team are unable to determine exactly how many were destroyed.
06.00-08.00 April 6th 1939
At dawn real operations commence. The British home fleet, unable to ignore the taunts from the Kriegsmarine try to engage them in battle. It proves impossible for them to close with our fleet so after taking a few bombs they retreat back into Scapa Flow.

Meanwhile the u-boat fleet successfully distracts the British naval bombers. They seem to be having little effect, possible distracted by the commanders mating display.
Or possibly confused by the lack of blueness.
08.00 April 6th 1939
By 8.00am all of the supporting attacks have engaged and it is possible to get a clear picture of German operations and their success. If you look closely you can see that all the ground battles are going well and heading for rapid German victory. The Poles, on the other hand, do not seem to have a clear understanding of the situation and insist that they will soon have us “sorted out”.

08.00 April 6th 1939 (b)
The strange antics of the emu have drawn in further spectators who foolishly come too close. They manage to sail away before any real ill effects but they are running scared. May be the British have realised the emu’s true nature.
09.00 April 6th 1939
The first allied air operations have been intercepted and luckily this includes the British strategic bombers. There are lots of other German fighters around and by the end of this battle enough harm has been done to both sides to reduce air activity here in the following days. The British strategic bomber force takes no further part in the initial campaigns.
