So ends the year of 1940. We didn’t mark the end of 1939 although a fair amount had happened during that year. Looking back on 1940 the year has really only yielded one major event, which was the defeat of Russia. This was followed by the outbreak of true world war and the cleaning up the remainder of Europe bringing us to the current position with active fronts being in Africa, the Middle East and the banks of the Volga.
The whole year has taken about 75,000 words and 850 images to document in, hopefully, enough detail to keep everyone happy. This is obviously a second successful year of warfare although may be that celebration should be on the second anniversary of the unprovoked French attack on our nation (or have you all forgotten that we never started it).
We begin a new year with nothing very significant changed from the old. Having posted a few words about 1940 we can now put it behind us and look forward to the future. This is undoubtedly the year of the second Russian campaign but beyond that there is little that can be said at this time.
Bear in mind my stated rules at the start. I will permit myself one “free” minister change per year and this means I now have another free change available. There are a few possibilities. The only ones that appeal are a switch from manpower focus to IC focus for the security minister or a change from IC focus to research focus on the intelligence minister. Both are attractive but for now I am changing nothing since, unfortunately, if I do change I would really like to change both.
p.s. This is phase one of the weekend update, more, much more, to follow.
