Since most of your troops are in Russia I presume, i think that you should split your army in half. Send half against Finland, and the other half against the Balkans. Once Finland is taken, swing those troops through to France and take out Vichy in Europe. From Vichy, you can move your troops to Italy. Once you have taken all of european Vichy and Italy, transport those troops back to your border with the Soviet Union

The troops that you sent against the Balkans should take out each balkan state one at a time. Romania then Bulgaria then Yugoslavia then Greece. After greece, those troops should be redeployed against Turkey and Northern Africa. Use your defense in depth strategy in Africa and allow your air force to destroy enemy divisions. Most of your Army in the middle east should swing through persia to India.

i will go for the leader info/medals deal ! ! ;)

Kanitatlan: ...The initial issue is that I have 145 days from the end point of the Russian campaign...

i agree with baue8673, seal off the Med by taking the Suez Canal, also, all coastal provinces of the Med. take all remaining Europe, also take Turkey and the Middle East, with the Middle East having the lowest priority.

increase your Panzer units by 50 percent, balance of units to be specialty units, like Marines, Paras, Naval units, Air Units (including Naval Bombers.)

my guess for the initial Soviet campaign was 35 manpower lost, so i am not in the running for winning that ! ! :D

magnificent updates ! !

baue8673 You can expect a post of the basic files for the mod when I can get them together, probably sometime next week.

Bafflegab I am always loathe to risk higher casualties. Manpower is always at a premium and is even now the limiting factor on unit building even though I am only intending to built "premium" units (air and naval).

KILLER BOB said:
Brilliant job mein fuhrer, simply brilliant! If possible, could I see the combat record of my brilliant corps?

2vx297s.jpg

Initially this seems like a very modest combat record until you realise KillerBob has been leading army group sized forces through the destruction of the Minsk pocket and forward into the Moscow offensive. The involvement in Barbarossa has been entirely as an infantry army commander (12 divisions) in army group centre. It is impossible to be certain but this army has probably been directly resposible for accepting the surrender of 20-30 Russian divisions. The low battle count is a direct result of my strategic policy of only defeating each enemy force once.

Bialystock and Grodno were the reduction battles for one half of the Minsk pocket. Mozhaisk and Rzhev are part of the final Moscow offesnive and the reduction of the Demyansk pocket.

Current orders are to proceed westwards and prepare to apply grey paint to the nicotine coloured country that creates such a prominant blemish on German territory. (In fact the last country to border on German home territory).

Killer Bob gets a silver star. He may not have been involved in the spectacular southern campaign but the contribution in the phase III/IV operations makes him a key team member.

Impressive campaign. That is one fast Bitter Peace. I am glad to see that Lord E did well in the fight for Moscow and proved himself worthy of his urban fighter trait, I like that. I would very much like to see his combat report and what medals has been awarded, please…

4gogjzp.jpg

I've limited this to the Russian campaign combat report as the repeated attacks on Seville (6 battles) are a bit tedious. As another infantry leader Lord E has few battles credited in the campaign despite being stationed with Army Group south. His infantry force was rapidly left behind in the great overrun offensive through Lvov and then disipated into small occupation forces. Lord E was then transferred to a position in the combined army groups around Moscow for the final great offensive. Despite not commanding the attack on Moscow I think we can hand out a silver star anyway. Lord E's force made more than their fair contribution in the battle fighting with better modifiers than most. Other armies did nearly as well as Moscow was a fortress and the fortress busters were just as good as an Urban Warfare Specialist. As our only leader with an acquired trait Lord E still retains a special status within our forces.

In case anyone is wondering, none of our ground commanders has gained a skill level and by quite some margin. The highest experience gained is 17 for Labalag. Again, this is a telling reflection on my 'one dead german is too many dead Germans' policy for fighting. (Also everyone started quite high)

Also, nice to see the Luftwaffe perform so well on the Eastern Front. I was glad to see my alter-ego (von Rauschend-Tod) in one of the last battles over Leningrad (now, once again, St Petersburg I presume). I would like to learn of his battle record and any award tallies would be appreaciated.

Excelsior!

2w4waag.jpg

As ever it is almost impossible to ascertain what air leaders have been up to apart from the odd sighting in screenies. Von Rauschend-Tod is a fighter commander and as such has been occupied in air combat patrols throughout the campaign. Due to the relatively poor showing of the Russian air force this has resulted in relatively low levels of combat . Von Rauschend-Tod has 17 experience but some of the ground attack air commanders have been able to gain skill levels by this point. Despite this, gaining 17 experience as an Air general takes a lot of combat. As one of the more prominent air commanders (well, one that speaks up anyway) I think we can go with yet another silver star. It seems unfair to mark down the fighter force for being too successful and hence not doing a lot of fighting.

The XI Fliegercorps has been under Von Rauschend-Tod's command for the whole campaign and is now at 30 experience for all its squadrons (starting at 20 from slider settings).

Yet another leader who has poor utilisation in this campaign. Ghost Writer hasn't featured as a commander in any of the main action having been given defensive commands in the Leningrad region right up until the end. Final dispostion is commanding a motorised infantry army in Volkhov.

Early action in the UK was far more prominent but for the Russian campaign only a bronze star I'm afraid.

Herr Kanitatlan,

It is with great honor that I recieve this Silver Star of the Fatherland on behalf of the XI Fliegercorps. It has been my greatest pleasure in combatting the enemies of the Fatherland and helping (in my own small way) to ensure the continued success of the Reich. My men and I pledge ourselves to your brilliant leadership and we eagerly await our chance to "visit" other lands so that we might bring to them the gift of your governance!!

Ort Odox has, as you can see, spent most of the campaign in the Pripyat marshes sector and some how missed out on the Moscow campaign. Another infantry commander, he has spent the whole campaign in a very localised part of the front and despite being a Field Marshal rarely selected as the top commander in any battle. This seems a little unfair and arbitrary but that's the game for you.

Looking back a bit we can see a pivotal role in the invasion of Sweden with resposibility for capturing Stockholm. Over all the award of a Silver Star seems well deserved.

Final location at the end of the campaign was Grodno acting as the head of the prisoner "round up" procedure and as such probably demonstrating his Field Marshal's logistical skills in dealing with 1,000,000 POWs.

DCP is one of the very few leaders to gain a skill level and demonstrate that the air leader combat history dialog is not completely empty, it contains skill gains and promotions. As commander of a Stuka group throughout the campaign DCP has been in constat combat on a daily basis gaining immense experience for both himslef and his Stuka Geschwader. Whilst it is impossible to determine true enemy losses inflicted I would imaging that over the main part of the campaign (ie until it all truned quiet in late July) the group was responsible for about 0.2 of a division per day. I would estimate the total destruction of 15 Russian divisions. This is if anything an under estimate as I have made no real allowance for the ability to carry out two missions per day when striking close to base.

As well as ground attack the group will have provided interdiction support to key attacks but this takes a suprisingly small number out of the total missions flown.

I think another Silver Star is deserved.

You may have noticed a theme by this point. I'm inclined to be generous to those that ask. This is establishing a principal that everyone who took part in the campaign gets a silver star but only if you ask.

Despite Lifeless's modest claim to have been down the Pub drinking you can see he has taken a significant role in the campaign. His modesty is probably based on an almost complete absence from action in the early campaigns but he has been busy since. We can see a mjor role in the invasion of Switzerland including the sneak occupation of Turin (the Italians are still very unhappy about this).

In the Russian campaign Lifeless has been a key commander of the army group south infantry contigent striking east through Kiev and then towards Moscow. As the victor of the battle of Kiev Lifeless gains some prominence for himself despite mostly acting in a secondary role in other battles.

Towards the end of the Moscow campaign Lifeless was transferred east to command a modest motorised force cleaning up some Russian garisson units in the west Urals area (Melekess and Kazan) and therefore missed the final mopping up of the Demyansk pocket.

Obviously another well deserved Silver Star.

PR Plan

This image illustrates the conceptual plan for operations during the remainder of 1940. To some extent the arrows indicate attacks on specific parts of the target countries based on the location of VP provinces. This is especially relevant for countries like Finland where conquest can be relatively localised. The various arrows across the Mediterranean represent the opportunity and likely occurrence of amphibious or airborne operations to support the relevant campaigns.

This plan remains very provisional since it has taken little account so far of the real issue for these operations, which is logistics. The real question is how long will it take to move troops to each theatre, complete the relevant campaign and then move on. Without evaluating these issues it is not a plan at all, just a vague intention. This sort of weak plan is all very well but could easily go badly adrift as we find the various parts don’t synchronise together. The dependencies and coordination of the Italy and Turkey attacks are important and since they are last they are strongly affected by the timing that goes before. I will have to do a lot more work to establish a proper plan before continuing the game.

I know most people would not bother with proper planning of these operations but this is exactly the sort of situation where it matters. I could easily have half my force waste half their time during this period by careless scheduling. Once this phase is over the scheduling will, fortunately, become less important.

That takes care of the combat planning but I also have issues around other aspects of managing Germany. Prior to the Russian campaign I changed from high manpower ministers to high IC (maximum exploiting of occupied territory) and faster movement (+10% move army minister). I have more IC than I know what to do with. I don’t like dropping my TC but I am willing to risk this to get more manpower. My industrial plan has no difficulty using up all of the manpower available from my little pool even though it only includes air and naval units.

I am therefore proposing to bring back both manpower ministers and, since I have used my “free” change for last year and this for setting up Barbarossa, I will have to eliminate the dissent the normal way unless I leave one until the new year.

As an aside, rocket base development is continuing but will not be complete for some time. This is set for a level 6 rocket base and on completion a crash program of very rapid rocket research will follow. All rocket related techs will be deferred until that time.

On the general technology front the only unusual action I am proposing is some strategic bomber research as I am planning to build a few because of their exceptional range. These will, at least initially, be devoted to naval operations with the principal objective being reconnaissance rather then ship sinking.

On the DOW front I have considered an early DOW on the USA to begin sinking their navy but have decided this is too risky with major naval activities being set up for the Mediterranean area. They will have to wait.

I do not recall the plan for dealing with dissent from the world-wide DOW at the end of the year. I assume it was mentioned. BTW - What is that plan?
