With the deep eastern flank coming together my troops begin a close flanking operation to the east of Moscow. There are stronger Russian forces here but they cannot realistically deal with large panzer groups (33 divisions attack). Ryazan provides a proper baseline for the assault on Moscow so we are nearly ready now.

In the north I have launched a holding attack to clear out Segezha to provide a little bit of rear security during the advance south. In truth the main defence is to advance south faster than the Russian northern armies can follow.

Russian supplies are still getting through but clearly run out before the end of the morning. If my estimate of 60 a day is still correct then we are looking at a drain of about 6.5 supplies per hour or the equivalent of about 80 infantry divisions. This seems not too unreasonable.

Air combat patrols over Moscow still encounter Russian fighters. I need full air superiority for the forthcoming attack so I hope 12:4 is going to keep these guys out of it for a few days. The real issue with interception from low org fighters is the disruption of possibly critical air missions. With the high Russian ground strength interdiction support will make a big difference.

The first troops to arrive at Toropets are unfortunately unable to hold their position against a Russian counter-attack. They have tried to hold on because support is mere hours away.
21:00 July 12th 1940
The defence of Ryazan is subject to the usual piecemeal reinforcement by the Russians resulting in heavy casualties and burnt out divisions. Once the real battle starts they may have a significant number of low org divisions mixed in to reduce their effectiveness.
