If a country say the UK gets taken over by let's say Germany, would a Dominion like Canada remain independent (Dominion actually) or would it flip to Germany and/or the fascist government installed in the UK .

Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa were all independent countries by WW2, and made separate declarations of war - it wouldn't be appropriate or plausible (or good for gameplay) if they flipped if the UK surrendered (although they may well make peace if the UK gave up the ghost, just not surrender/be taken over/puppeted). India is a bit different, a surrender of the UK could have all sorts of complicated implications for the independence movements there. I wouldn't think it would automatically 'flip' to Germany, at least if we want the gameplay to be passingly sensible.

In darkest hour, if Britain was defeated, the royal family would flee to Canada and most British troops worldwide would swear allegiance to Canada. That being said, the empire would slowly start to fall apart, as colonies break off and become independent.
