I know this system is changing but what's the current meta to achieve this? Is it 1 upgrade per port or yard? Also, if you split up your fleet can you still re-merge with no hassle/bugs?
While it's super annoying, I do kind of wonder if it's realistic. Stripping out all the weapons, shields, armor, sensors, power core, and engines on a battleship and then replacing it all probably *would* take a lot longer than just building a new ship.

I usually don't upgrade except for jump drives... Building new ones and getting most old ones killed is more effective imho.
I said that I know about splitting and upgrading. So I don't understand where you are going there... And yeah, upgrading might be faster and cheaper, but also means that I have less ships to die for me. True, if one plays a peaceful empire that is threatened one probably has no choice because not enough ships get destroyed and the naval cap is stopping you from building new ones.It is way faster to split and upgrade than to build new ships. The cost seems always cheaper than building new one as far as I checked.
I misread it as deleting. Letting them die in battle sounds not bad. However I don't like my fleets move slowly due to old ships though, that's why I like to upgrade when I needed to use them.I said that I know about splitting and upgrading. Also, to make this clear: I never said that I delete ships. Just that I let them die in combat.
