I am currently playing Germany 1936 Campaign in Arm 1.2... and I have just completed BP with Japan in the Axis in 4 months. May 41 to Sep 41 That is by far the fastest I have ever completed the BP event... a side note Japan did not control Vladivostock. Normal/normal settings

What is your personal records for the BP...

As I don't garrison my Barbarossa gains (other than the airbases) it is important that BP fires ASAP, as my TC will return to normal again then.

To be honest I don't really find the time it takes untill BP fires the most important. I usually don't let it fire untill the Soviets are down to 50ish divisions. That way I'm sure they won't be a problem anymore for the rest of the game, as it'll take them years to build a new army.

But usually, I get BP after about 6 months or so.
I'd recommend to the OP that he tries a higher difficultylevel, on N/N Germany can pretty much outbuild the SU.

I have conquered the Balkans in 12 days.

But fastest Barbarossa.. Well, I think it goes to early '42. I like to delay the end of it.. Mainly because game gets boring post-BP.

About 4 months.

Since then I've changed my strategy a bit and try to do it in about 2 years... I like 2 front wars, though I've still never had one

I ussually launch the moment the mud starts to dry in the spring (usually end of April or beginning of may) and can complete it by end September before the snows hit. Sometimes that last VP center can be hard to reach though and I end up fighting at the very beginning of winter.

Nice. Did you manage that with encirclements or through massive CAS bombardment, and how far had you advanced when the BP fired?
Mostly encirclements and overruns, though I had about 16 CAS and 20 Tacs that were flying Ground Attack missions and eliminated a fair number of divisions. I don't pay enough attention at times so there were many times that I had squadrons flying missions in air zones that I had already cleared days ago. :eek:o

I hadn't gotten very far beyond Sverdlovsk when it fired. I had started the campaign on June 1, with the intention of destroying the Soviet Army. I did that obviously  , then pushed east during winter to get to the BP provinces. I forget now, but something happened to my game-a CTD or something-so I had to reload the autosave for Nov. 1 and the BP fired immediately, making the 150 days. I had the BP provinces already so the only thing the reload did was save the Soviets a couple of divisions that I had on the ropes.

A little under two months when I invade Turkey and use it as a base. Without doing anything ahistorical prior to the invasion my best is a little more than three months, with a fair bit of time being gained by amphibious assaults of all things.

That's a good idea, maybe a puppet Turkey so they'll crank out some divisions too. I've always thought about taking out Turkey (it'd be fairly easy in the winter '40-'41 because IIRC there's not much snow) for easy access to Baku. I guess I just envisioned a very spread-out invasion that would be harder to manage.

Well, the first time I tried it I indeed spread myself too thin and I wasn't able to move very quickly in some parts of Russia proper, I got the BP in around 6 months. The second time, I was able to better co-ordinate my attacks and it only took about 3 and half months, after that I've continued to tinker with things until I've gotten it to about 55 days.

Half off-topic, but I have managed to beat Germany as USSR by 1943. War started in historical date, and they pushed me back to Stalingrad.
So simple to win if you focus all force in southern front and push them to Poland while letting them to come in Volkhov. Just kill out Romania, turn north and encircle them all.

In my Fatherland AAR (see sig) bitter peace was 87 days against heavily enhanced but normally incompetent Russian opposition. I find this is a fairly typical time for me and is achieved without really focusing on being as rapid as possible. Now try the how many casualties question.

My personal strategy as Russia is to stop the Germans at Cherkassy in the South, it is surrounded by 4 other provinces so you can always concentrate huge firepower on it, and in the North and central sectors to let them not get past Smolensk or next to Leningrad. I just did it in WiF in challenge mode and had all of Europe painted red by about November 1942.

Bring them into the Axis. IMO, they are the most valuable ally Germany can have aside from Italy, which of course, isn't saying much.
