A cute little cheat I've noticed.

Suppose an enemy army of size 10 moves to a province A in which you have an army of size 2. Their army is due to arrive on 10 January. You also have an army of size 20 in a neighboring province B. If you start to move your entire army to A, the AI will cancel the move, as it knows it cannot win the battle. If you move only a single unit, though, the AI will continue to attack, because it thinks it can still win against 3 units.

Now, when you completely merge two moving armies, then the move progress of the resulting army is reduced to the smaller move progress of the two armies. Plausible. However, and this is the bug/cheat, it is not so reduced if you transfer units between armies where at least one unit remains in both armies.

Thus, start to move a single unit into province A so that it will arrive on 10 January. On the 9th, transfer 18 more units (all but one) from the army that remains in province B. This will not reduce the move progress, so the army of size 19 will still arrive in A on the 10th. Easy win.

May sound oddly specific, but applies surprisingly often. Yet another easy way to con the AI into un-winnable battles.

Can confirm that this was not possible back in vanilla, havent tried tricks like this since. If this does work (will try it tonight) my Teutonic Order game just got a lot easier.
