I know you said Byzantium would not be in this game but is it possible that a fascist Greece could go back to its roots and become Byzantium?

We have updated our Community Code of Conduct. Please read through the new rules for the forum that are an integral part of Paradox Interactive’s User Agreement.
The devs have stated that there are no formable tags in the game on release, so the only way this could happen is if "Byzantium" is the name of Greece under Fascist rule. I seriously doubt it will be, though.

Form it with Italy and just call it the "New Rome"! They get the Western Roman Empire and Greece gets the Eastern.

It is still possible to release client states from conquered territory, right?

there are no nations that have tag change events. i.e GRE has no event to change to BYZ.
since greece was a semi-fascist/monarchial state under Metaxas, i seriously doubt there'd be a byzantine reference there.

Well you can release nations, but you can't take Austria, conquer Hungary and the Balkans and click a button to remake the AH Empire.
I think easiest would either be a mod or just change the name of the Greek Fascist country name in the files.
