Team PDS: Given that...
When Henrik says the expansion is 'done' he means the design. Development of it has not started, we're still very much working on the base game.

If you could give us some details on the first Stellaris DLC's focus and scope, it would not only satisfy our galactic curiosity (for a few seconds), but much more importantly, the Stellaris forum could start having engaging, focused, and productive discussions on ideas to support, improve, and implement said DLC.

Yes, you can go it alone a while longer... but what if one of us has a fabulous... golden nugget idea? Don't you want to know sooner? Know before development starts? What about combinations of great ideas that work in concert for a gaming experience that exceeds expectations of the current design? We've got lots of energy and limitless ideas, but without the focus of knowing more about the DLC, hard to channel that energy.

In addition... what about diverting our attention from dialog on the latest minor glitch observed in the latest video... all the speculations we make because we don't have anything else to fill the void. Think also of Wiz' health and his resulting lower blood pressure if our attention is diverted onto more productive dialog... like helping DLC #1 be successful.

Yes, there are risks to this approach: Once you release the focus & scope of DLC #1, the tiny minority... the heretics, unbelievers, and naysayers will come out in force... and try to hijack threads under the guise of critical feedback... However, they can be skipped over, filtered, and ignored. We... your loyal fans will utilize our utmost discipline to persevere... not be baited... should you entrust us with the details of DLC #1 earlier than planned.

Regardless of the risks, think of the gains: Boost to fan POP happiness, great ideas at low resource cost, and helping to channel our energy credits to meet your end product objectives... just by giving us some details on DLC #1 and a starting point of how we can help.

I have no doubt that Paradox will release more information when the time is appropriate. The base game is still being worked on and is not released, I would imagine they want us to digest that content before talking about future plans in any kind of detail.

Good point. Just curious... like all of us.

I was surprised PDS mentioned the DLC in an interview before release, but might not have been planned... things happen. Anyway, I'm not expecting a dev response on DLC content, but I can always hope... and be patient along with everybody else.

As much as it would be nice to help talk about some of the stuff they could add in the DLC, the fact that none of us have actually touched the game means we'd just be speculating on top of speculation. This forum already has its share of people who are entirely confident they know exactly how a game they've never played before needs to be changed.

The designing part is probably by far the most fun part of creating a new expansion. I imagine the guys at paradox would be pretty jealous about keeping that pleasure for them self. Sure, people making suggestions is probably only good but I don't see them actually officially outsourcing anything.

I guess it could be even more productive if we all will actually play the game. Besides it's not like they didn't look at forums/reddit when they designed this.

Trade, there needs to be a trade dlc. I can say that much without playing a single hour.
True, but there is a big difference between knowing that trade needs a DLC (or espionage, as many say, or expanded governments/societal options, or taking your new friends out on playdates to open-mic kazoo concerts) and knowing what form it should take, how deep it should go, how it should fit in with existing mechanics, and if it's even the most pressing need if they can only cover so much in one go.

Besides, if all we're going to conclude in a discussion like this is "Oh, there ought to be a trade expansion", then I think we're insulting the developers' intelligence a bit; I'm sure they already know.
