Hello,

So I just played about 75 years into my first fanatic purifier campaign (also first 2.2 campaign). Medium size galaxy, no guaranteed habitable planets, medium difficulty.

Everything is going alright expect for that one thing ...

How am I supposed to manage the conquered planets??

I took over two neighboring civilizations and their planets, and the first one was alright on my economy due to the slow way in which I took their planets.

But the second one yielded me about five planets within 2-3 game years. The food/minerals/unity harvest from purging all those xeno pops is wonderful but I noticed that on each planet, I more or less immediately get two ruler pops and then a bunch of specialist pops taking over the vacated planetary administration and other building jobs, and this TOTALLY tanks my economy. Consumer goods demand skyrockets, economic credits goes way deep into red, and I am now facing deficits that no amount of food and rare resource sales can fix.

So how is a fanatic purifier supposed to go about conquering xeno planets? Did I do it too fast? Am I supposed to be slower than I ended up doing it? Or is there a way to avoid staffing all those new planets with jobs in such a way that the economy does not tank?

It might be a micromanagement pain, but it probably helps to reduce job priority in specialist slots on the conquered planets.

Ya this reduce the job priority for the specialized jobs and you should start getting some workers. Cant think of anything else ya can do besides demolishing buildings.

I noticed I could de-prioritize ruler and specialist jobs if I pause literally the second the invasion succeeds, and that way avoid getting unemployed pops. If I block all the ruler and specialist slots, and leave open only the worker jobs (farmer, miner, technician, clerk), could I that way avoid economic meltdown? Can the purges still continue that way?

I turn off the land appropriation policy and resettle all the xeno pops to my core worlds. In addition, I take the adaptability tree first for the resettlement cost reduction. Good luck in your xeno purging efforts!

I never de-prioritized an entire strata, so I don't know if it is effective or even possible. But I imagine that one administrator and one enforcer should be enought to oversee the purgings. Ressettling some xenos to other planets ensures the proccess to be smoother.

It really is a lot of micro management though. I wish there was an empire policy about which jobs to close and which ones to keep open upon conquering a planet :(

If I settle the conquered xeno planets "only" with workers, and keep the higher level jobs blocked for the time being, would I get any side effects?

How do you do it, as fanatic purifier?

would I get any side effects?

You'll have a harder time maintaining stability in theory, since high strata jobs build that more easily, as well as only be getting raw resources, but I haven't had any issues with stability tbh. Personally I would disable most higher strata jobs but leave a few active simply because unity is nice and I've found enforcers to be useful at controlling crime on the new planet. But it's perfectly doable and in fact a wise choice which I have done many times - take over planet, disable a bunch of research labs and the like to force my pops to be useful things.

Note that you still pay upkeep for the buildings even if you close the jobs they provide. To save some energy and rare resources and also reduce number of clicks you can disable some buildings on the captured planets.

What happens if your use Neutering or Forced Labour purge type?
That should give you enough time to replace xeno pops with your own in the worker stratum

Could you turn off land appropriation? You will still get immigration to the planet (if you've allowed that). You can always choose not to inhabit the planet by allowing all the filthy aliens to die off and moving your people off it. You get to keep the star system afterwards too.

I just Armageddon bomb all the planets into oblivion so there is no messy conquest to worry about. It also acts as a nice sort of terraforming for my Post-Apocalyptic pops to later re-colonize.

Could you turn off land appropriation? You will still get immigration to the planet (if you've allowed that). You can always choose not to inhabit the planet by allowing all the filthy aliens to die off and moving your people off it. You get to keep the star system afterwards too.
Hmm, land appropriation policy, I have not thought about that and what it does.

But isn't it pretty a "get free pops" policy choice? I thought there would usually be no point in turning it off (unless you really don't want to keep xeno planets)

Yeah, I give up all the unity from purging, but I consider it worthwhile to gain a 100% habitability planet and skip all the hassle of managing the conquered planet. I just colonize it anew.

Resettle all pops being purged to your homeworld. Costs nil, but exponentially increases the total yield per pop purged (flaw in engine). And allows you to abandon planets until you actually got the population to settle them.

Armageddon + Nihilistic Acquisition? Should be best of both. Xenos get resettled around your empire for the purge and you burn the planet.

Interesting combo, I might give that a try on my Post-Apocalyptic run. That would allow me to gain pops for slave purging while still terrorforming the planet into a beautiful, majestic, ideal tomb world.

I just Armageddon bomb all the planets into oblivion so there is no messy conquest to worry about. It also acts as a nice sort of terraforming for my Post-Apocalyptic pops to later re-colonize.

Haha I did that in my first 2.0 game, that was a really fun game! Plus I would just blow up the smaller planets I didnt want and get minerals. That was a great game with FP.

That is interesting, does seem a little time consuming though. Hmm could be worth trying out.
