Happy birthday, my friend.

Happy Birthday St N, I hope things have calmed down sufficiently for you to have enjoyed it. :)

MHR @stnylan - I do hope that the next lap is less fraught than the last...

Thank you again. Just a quick note to say that, as today I am celebrating another year on this Earth, I will pick a new Fan tomorrow.

A very happy birthday to you!

Thank you all for the birthday congratulations. A good day was had.

In terms of recommendations, I am going to do a bit of a cop-out and point in the direction of my ACA ballot for a selection of stuff I have been reading in the last six months. I hope you wil forgive the lazy approach.

And thus it is time to pass this on. Another oldertimer, but one I was surprised how long it has been since their last awAARd - over a year according to the first post. He is a prolific commentatAAR, and someone whose comments I always value in my own AARs. I give you @Specialist290 - a great, all-round Fan and very much worthy to be celebrated again.

Again, thanks for all the well-wishes, everyone :)

As is my custom, before handing the award off, I want to take a moment to highlight a couple of relatively new AARs I've been particularly enjoying lately, and share them for you all to enjoy as well:

  • Jihad on the Savannah: A Vic2 serious Sokoto AAR, by mad orc -- An excellent and wonderfully detailed look at West Africa in the Victorian period, a corner of the world that honestly doesn't get as much attention as it should in general.
  • A Royal Prerogative - A UK AAR, by Le Jones -- An HoI4 AAR from a 1936 Britain start, focusing largely at the time of this writing on the ongoing constitutional crisis surrounding Edward VIII's choice of bride-to-be. A little bit of a "slow burn" at the beginning, but well worth the wait in my opinion.
  • Here Dwells God - A Jewish Poland AAR, Part Two, by Tommy4ever, and The White Eagle & the Knight: A Polish AAR, by RossN -- Two EU4 AARs, both in history-book style and about the Polish nation (a perennial favorite of mine for "might-have-beens"). The first is the continuation of a megacampaign begun in CK2, while the second begins at the default historical start. Both are by authors I have greatly enjoyed in the past, and the contrast between their styles and their approach to playing the same nation is quite intriguing in its own right.
  • Rise of Eagles - A Dream of White Russian Victory Mod AAR, by Henry V. Keiper -- An alternate history HoI4 AAR in a world where the Bolsheviks failed and Princess Anastasia lives. I've always been a little fond of the "surviving princess" myth, and, again, I've followed this author enough in the past to know that he can spin quite the compelling tale.
-----

Those of you who know me (or at least, know of me) and who follow this award's progress know that I generally prefer to recognize "new blood" when I pass it on, whether it be a particularly enthusiastic new member of the community or a long-time fan who hasn't had their moment in the spotlight. I also tend to try to keep my eyes open for someone who's done something to go a bit above and beyond the norm, and this week's new Fan of the Week certainly clears that bar -- after all, it isn't everyone who enjoys an AAR so much that they go out of their way to convert it into PDF form to save and share for posterity.

So congratulations to you, @Werther -- you are AARland's new Fan of the Week! :D
