We know that more or less, one of the central pillars of CK2 is the family and the dynasty. So, I wanted to suggest some kind of mid-sized expansion to this part of the game. That is the introduction of 'family laws' and 'family interactions'.
Right now, we have that we can set (or ask nicely to our vassals to agree with) the laws for the realm we control. My proposal is to add, in the same tab, the family shield so that the head of the family can set 'general laws' for the family. (Where I say 'head of the family' that doesn't necessarily refer to the player as they might not be it and it might not even be a single head, but a group in some cases)
This new tab would have things that somehow regulate the 'general behaviour' or 'tendencies' of the family. For example:
- Marriage between members of the dynasty (Allowed, allowed after certain degree, disallowed)
- Main religion (Religion of the head, no religion...)
- General focus (For players with The Way of Life DLC, it could make more likely that the members of the dynasty choose a specific focus)
- Internal Alliances (regulating if, by default, members of the dynasty have an alliance/non-aggression pact/nothing among themselves)
Of course, this raises the problem of *enforcing* this familiar rules, and probably would have to be limited to the realm of the head/head group of the family. I guess that if the head is Duke of somewhere in Spain and some branch of the family is in Bulgaria, it would be difficult to force they to obey the rules.
Now, for 'family interactions', it can be things like 'familiar reunion' (similar to the familiar focus) But I wanted to suggest some more meaningful interactions like (this are for the head of the family, if the player is not the head of the dynasty, they are replaced with 'ask the head for <>'):
- Split the family: Maybe some branch has decided that they have drifted off too much from the main family and that they want to be a separated dynasty.
- Disinheriting some member of the family: Maybe someone has done something so bad (like kinslaying) that the head decides that said person is not a member of the dynasty anymore.
- Suggesting or calling off marriages/betrothals or suggesting divorces.
And the members of the dynasty could have some interactions among themselves like:
- Ask for support/money/whatever.
