There were two consuls, charged with leading the army into battle, as well as numerous minor offices to swap around (from censor to Roman prefect, to the provincial governors, to the popular tribunes etc.)Bodhisattvas said:Another question:
I'm no expert in roman things (well...i know that there were legions and such things), but i think in this time period there was no ruler like the Cesares. So what Person are we Playing? In CK it was a count, king .... . Am i right that there was something like a chancelor voted by the senate?
In one of the Dev Diaries, it's been said that the player will always control the dynasty in power (no matter which one). In other words, like in most Paradox games, the player does not assume the role of any specific character, but simply the "guiding spirit" or "invisible hand" leading an entire nation. So if we playing this "chancelor", what if we loose such a vote? can we play as a little governor or ... ? I mean its about Dynastys and it would be some kind of unrealistic if my family would be ruler of the senate for the whole game.
I hope you get my point![]()

Indeed indeed.Swamp Rat said:That wouldnt be unthinkable in a game of CK, unlikely but possible. So it wouldnt be a valid objection to playing dynasties in Rome.

I would really love a mod so we could play as families in EU:R. It would be super. SUPER. And make it more challenging.Flooper X said:unlikely?
so far it's happened every time i've played CK![]()
(but on the other hand, i've only played about 4-5 different campaigns/dynasties)

vertinox said:I think the CK inheritance system doesn't really work well for Roman era because heirs were often non-blood related, but just adopted. Many full grotwn men would be adopted by the Roman Emperor due to no blood heirs.
I mean I love CK in all its glory but the medieval political system doesn't fit in the Roman political system. There no claims and church after all.
English Patriot said:Its not
Very, very, very true, heirs were usually the first son of the family, or were appointed as such in the Imperial era of Rome, during the Republic adoption was less common but was often used to keep a family going if it had no heirs. I would have thought any way that inheritance would be dictated by the family's culture rather than choosing from a list ala CK.
