After the Lem update, the Fallen Empires no longer have 100–200K fleets. All they have are a few individual battlecruisers up to 13K and the maximum they have is a fleet of 12 escorts up to 30K. The only firepower they have are their starbases, but other than that they no longer feel like a threat. Even if you manage to anger them, you can easily halt them at choke points. Did I miss something?

Sure your not mixing up the states? Cause yeah FEs are a smidgen weak by late development standards. But they awaken pretty durn quick if you are actively stabbing them and well AE is a different game.

Also could be a case of you can't see the fleets for lack of intel, or sensor range. You can't have anything but base intel level against an FE so without a sentry array you can be blind to where the fleets strength are. And certain FEs(looking at you machine caretakers) can wander off to do things like kill raiders and monster spawns in systems beyond there borders, and then they just kinda sit there.

I have noticed that the FEs have far more fleets than usual. Looking at their home systems shows that they have 10+ fleets sitting there, albeit much smaller fleets than their typical doomstacks. I haven't actually counted the fleet power to see if it is roughly the same as before, just dispersed. Either way, this seems like a step backwards for FE behavior and capabilities.

I've seen this in the last few updates. It happens after the FE has finished a war. I suspect this is due to attempting to improve the AI by making the FE more efficient in wars by splitting their fleets to attack more targets at once. The first time I noticed it was when an FE bordering me suddenly started conga-lining a bunch of small fleets through my territory. Turned out they had declared war on someone. When the fleets conga-lined back, they went back to where they started but never joined up into a single fleet again.

With me it was an FE that had never been at war (the Materialists), but had gotten involved in fighting off hostile space fauna (mining drones and void clouds and such) and also happened to be in the way when the khan blazed through the area. I don't know if their war protocols come into play in those instances, but that could be it.

Hmm I have seen them have smaller fleets but not really less fleetpower.

It was the robot FE and it's only based on one game so not 100% accurate most likely.

They had a lot of 50k fleets, one +100k and some one ship fleets I think. They were also never at war or into conflict with space fauna (surrounded by me for most of the time).

Why did they nerfed FE?? They were already weak and dumb! Why on Earth did they find that making them even weaker was a good idea?? I'm baffled by their "development" choices sometimes...
Oh yes and btw, WoH is still a bugfest who break Federations and vassalization apart, but prority was to destroy FE, not addressing this 4 years issue... Disappointing

So the same thing that Paradox tried with normal empires and that didn't work at all because doomstacks will just destroy the AI fleets one at a time? Why try this again after it clearly didn't work the first time?

So handsome!

If that's intentional, that seems pretty silly.
