Hello,

I've searched through the forums and attempted suggested solutions (reinstalling, updating drivers, updating DirectX, running it as admin outside Steam) but have been unable to find a solution. I have ~15 hours on CK2, but today i tried to start the game, and the screen went black (but music still plays) and the "Failed to create graphics device. Exiting" box appears. I've read the other threads on this topic, and tried the solutions, but nothing seems to work.

I've attached my CK2 system log and settings.txt.

When did the game last work for you?

Is Stellaris okay?

DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

CK2 stopped working Tuesday or Wednesday of last week (12/11 or 12/12).

I'm currently reinstalling Stellaris to see if it's also affected.

I've also attached my DXDIAG to this message.

I see no actual problems in any of those files. The game finds the video and makes the graphics device just fine.

Delete the whole documents/paradox/ck2/ folder (except any save games you might want to keep) and let the game make a new one.

If you still get this problem then, send in the new settings.txt and everything in the logs folder that's over 0 bytes.
