Factory selection algorithm has been improved in 1.2, so it's now less common.

atleast your guys are building factories -.- i can't get mine to build, nor build any my self, as there is iron to be bought on the market :/

Try to get more prestige in some way(events, tech, wars etc). This will enable you to buy off the world market before countries with lower prestige, and should make it easier to buy iron if there's a surplus.
