Factors that effect inheritance

I've not figured out how it works in HttT either, but there's also Claim throne, that might affect it. And for succession wars the two highest prestige nations that have claimed a thron fight it out, possibly prestige affects inheritance in other ways too.

The mechanics also confuse me. I had a royal marriage, than I claimed the throne, then I started a succession war (with the SW CB) after which I couldn't form a PU.

One question (hey, it's the only thing I can think of) - was the target/victim leader of the opposing alliance? If the target wasn't, you can(or should be able to) enforce the PU negotiating with the alliance leader.
