It seems that the strength of the reward units is related to the guarding troops. What was the type of troops guarding the monster generators that gave the Paladins of Death?

A ghost or orc shaman are only advanced troops that you can make yourself by about turn 50 if you want, so they are nothing special. All my elite troop rewards were guarded by elite guards; including greater fire elementals, vampires and red dragons as well as other support so there is no way they can be taken in the early game.

During my expedition to lava world Ashbirth, I got for reward total of two Bearmen and one Greater Fire Elemental, when looting some of the toughest spawning points (elemental gate, dragon nest, etc...).

At that point, they were nice, but not game breaking in any way.

Heck, I think early access to ghost wolf spell is much more game breaking.

the rewards are laughable on impossible. because they stay the same but NPC power is times thousand. so, if you think rewards mess the game up and play impossible.

Unless you walk up next to the goodie hut with two units. One gets murdered by a guard in melee, who steps off the hut. The next turn, move your Warrior to take the hut. This tactic costs you 20-30 gold, or just a cheap summoned unit.

I've gotten an Acolyte of Lunard on like turn 20 with a bat capturing probably an ogre mound while it stepped away. I then proceeded to wreck everything on the map with a unit they couldn't see or survive one attack from. I don't care about balance, it was awesome.
