It would be nice if for example a vassal with a real good relation with his liege could get a "loyalist" trait that diminish the chances he joins a faction (and if he do join, he automatically lose the loyalist trait of course).

I'd also want to see hostage system where you get hostages from defeated rebels diminishing the chance that the dynasty just rebels again as soon as they get the chance (of course also diminish their willingness to join factions). That way the repeats of the same wars over and over might finally come to an end.

And why do those freedoms inherently matter more than a close relationship with the king, or the expectation of money/land/titles if you remain loyal?

Pretty sure youre getting way too far into applying human behavior to the computer controlled sprites.

No, I'm asking you to justify your assertion that it's necessary for a noble with maximum positive relations with the king to also be in a faction conspiring to reduce the king's power.

Because in a kingdom in the game with high crown authority, the count/ducal powers are limited. They cant wage war against each other and titles cant pass from the realm through inheritance. So why wouldn't a duke join a faction to lower crown authority?

... if you're a loyalist, a close friend of the monarch, or a nobody that the king has raised up from obscurity, then it's in your best interest to see the power of the king (i.e. crown authority) increased, not reduced.

The King/Queen should be able to create their own faction which if joined by a duke/count would make it impossible for them to join another faction. Since those who join wouldnt be able to further their own goals the King/Queen would pay them a monthly salary (or bribe) of 2.5% of the Kings/Queens yearly taxes, to remain in the faction.

This would hopefully be weighted so that Mayor Lord, and Counts without dukes would be far more willing to join the royal faction since the mayors care more for money/trade and the counts without dukes would feel week to the King/Queens troop limits. Dukes however would not be weighted to join since they are more powerful, while Bishop Lords would only join if the King/Queen had a Peity title or Crusader trait but would infact syphine their tithes to the King/Queen rather then the Pope instead of taking the royal bribe

Hmm, I posted some complaints about factions earlier in this thread, and while those complaints are still valid, I realized I might be lending my voice to something I didn't mean to.

I absolutely LOVE the factions! This is the most exciting feature of medieval politics! The drama and intensity it creates, and the extra care you have to give to your vassals, makes for a great narrative. They need some fine-tuning, that's all.
