Little time lurker. I searched through the recent threads but didnt come up with anything.

So Faction rep gives you the ability to take higher skull missions and a slight store discount. I mean its balanced.. but boring. Is there any reason for my merc group to take federated sons missions vs another faction? Not really.

I feel like each faction should provide a noticeable scaling bonus as you accumulated reputation for. This bonus should be totally unique to each of the factions. Something like Davions let you have more access to lostech to buy, Tuarians give unique argo buffs. Or something. Im all for some RP but after a while they are all just some general faceless person paying me money.

To further some RP goals getting in too tight with one faction should provide some large negatives to others so you have to choose. Right now I could end up being allied with everyone and while I understand "merc" I dont think you are allied with a group when you just blew up 3 lances of their assault mechs because there was a contract for it...

My 2 cents

I think it's a combination of Positive Rep outweighing Negative by a huge degree and also Rep not doing much to begin with.
I think the Rep for taking a mission against a faction is -0.1 (so it takes ten missions to earn one Negative Rep) and if you take a mission for a faction and have a Bad Faith Withdrawal, it's only -2.

It also makes taking Rep as a reward for missions basically useless. I think Rep combined with MRB rating would make a much better gate for mission difficulty than simply Story Missions. If you're racking up the kills for say House Marik, they would likely offer you tougher and tougher jobs against more and more antagonistic opposition. It would also be a good avenue for difficulty spikes, as taking a mission against a faction that really hates you would make them calling in a ton of reinforcements make sense.
