I'm really enjoying the update to the faction system and a lot of time in my recent playthrough has been spent looking at the faction screen and working out how to manipulate the pops' ethics and factions. As with all new things I don't fully understand, I've got some questions on the inner workings of the whole system.

Pops can only be a member of one faction, but can they change ethics after joining a faction? (I've observed that factions are 'sticky'. After cranking attraction to a particular ethic to 51% and waiting 2 years, nothing obvious has changed (Except my influence pool. That's certainly shrunk)).

Pops with 'residents' as their citizenship type can join factions despite the tooltip saying they may not engage politically. This a bug?

The ethics breakdown at the top of the factions screen tells us the percentage of pops that embrace each ethic and it seems to include the ethics of both residents and slaves in the calculation. This means that the ability for the government to embrace an ethic is dependant on the ethics that resident aliens and slaves have. Is this intended?
