So I (Iran) accidentally got the Allies to declare war on me for going to war with (independant) Turkey while I had an offer from USSR to join Commintern still open, took it for help in defense, refused absolutely to A) allow the Soviets to join my offensive wars in the Middle East & B) absolutely refused to join any of the USSR's wars. The relationship is clearly them aiding me in defending.
So I push the Allies out of the Middle East eventually, right back to the Cairo & Bospherous Canals, just in time for Germany to do the same on the western banks. Cool, thinks I, and right before I order my troops east because I've no beef (yet) with the axis and I kind of have british troops on my eastern border, I peek north and see that the USSR is about to capitulate (Moscow, Leningrad & Sevastopol are all surrounded).
Soo... what happens? I'm not involved AT ALL in the war between the Comintern and Axis, I'm at war with the Allies, so if the USSR (the leader of the faction that I can't leave (sad face)) falls... do they surrender for me? Or does the Axis justify war goals against me to Get Stalin, or does the game continue until Germany or Italy decide on their own that they want Turkey or Saudi Arabia independent of the fact that they technically belong to a member nation of an enemy faction that they're not at war with..?

edit: also bonus points to me for starting WW3 before WW2 started, right?

Wow, you managed to snarl up international relations pretty nicely there. I have never seen that kind of situation arise myself, but I like it.

If I understand the process correctly, however, if USSR surrenders to the Axis, then the entire Comintern will be at peace with the Axis when it is done, since there is no other major nation in the Comintern that faction leadership can pass to. Now later down the road Germany may decide to attack you anyway, but I doubt you are really on their radar to be honest. For your purposes, a Soviet surrender may actually be a good thing, greatly lowering the odds that Axis forces will decide to attack you.

yeah apparently aggressively pursuing an global oil hegemony, seizing one of Russia's 3 ports & snatching Cairo from the Allies while trying to maintain my wild-card status causes things to Go Down.
In fact, with the Cairo Canal take I've stationed a sub-fleet on the horn of Africa and am watching Asia fall to Japan & the Comintern. In total, WW3 & WW2 happening at the same time isn't affecting much in Europe but Asia is a trash fire right now
Thanks for the advice tho. At what point does a peace conference happen? Does Russia just sit in limbo forever until somebody just happens to kick over my core states of Iran which are, as of now, %100 missile silo & nuke factory?

OKAY SO, USSR capitulated to Germany, Germany, Japan & Italy consumed every communist nation on Earth, EXCEPT FOR the Anarcho-Communal Asian-Minor Bloc of Iran (me) and the ancom-backed Indian Revolt, both of whom never fought the Axis.
So, apparently, if your faction loses a war you abstained from then you become the new leader of the faction and the non-abstainers die.
