Facepalm moment from patriot rebels

Started a D&T game a while ago as Achaea (planning to go Achaea -> Greece -> Byzantium -> Roman Empire). I PUed Epirus at start and was salivating for Athens and Larissa which were in Sicily's hands. While Sicily was busy, I saved up enough to sponsored a stack of patriot rebels. What happened then was that Serbia DoWed Sicily and bounced the patriot rebels right onto Epirus. In no time, it broke the country and my PU partner's provinces defected to me without the cores I wanted.

I wonder if you guys had similar rebel-related facepalm moments.

Well yes and no. But rebels are stiupid. Too much script, too little AI.

I was playing a Byzantium game a few days ago. Patriot rebels appeared in Trinicaria's Greek lands, but they (6k) were beaten by a 4k Trinicarian amphibious assault. They proceeded to enter my territory, and I was forced to kill them.

I was playing Genoa with the Byzantines as my vassal.

I funded patroit rebels (via the cheaper 'support revolt') in Edine & Macedonia, where Larissa, Kozani, Macedonia, and Edine ended up flipping to the Byzantines.

However, instead of proceeding south to Epirus (held by Naples) ... they attempted to march north through Bulgaria and Moldavia all the way to Kaffa (owned by me).

Ahh, I do have a story. In D&T, I was Iberia, and had control of Sicily and a foothold on the Italy. Tiny Naples was my vassal, and my ally, powerful and unified France, controlled other portions of Naples. Not wanting to fight France, I sponsored rebels to apprear in French Italy to defect them to Naples.

As it turns out, the Neapolitan army itself went and crushed those rebels :glare: . Oh well.

lol. That's actually very similar to what I experienced. I was giving this evil laugh about seeing 10k rebels sitting on Trinicaria's Greek provinces and then gazed in shock when it sent like 5k to attack the rebels and knocked it right over to Epirus (which then proceeded to roll right all over our troops and leading to the result I described.
