Hail everyone.
I am enjoying the heck out of Crusader kings 2 being a new player (50ish hours so extremely green). I mostly am playing around with different mechanics and finding my ground. I was starting in the 769 period but after everyone recommending later periods reasons being more newcomer friendly I decided to start playing from 1066.
The game is amazing overall, truly. As with any game that uses RNG I understand the nature of it, yet the game can become extremely boring. Take for instances a game I am playing now, I am trying to fabricate a claim... The highest person I could find and actually would accept my invitation has a diplomacy of 14. It has been 20 years since trying to fabricate a claim and still nothing.
Now as I said being RNG based this can happen and has happened already a handful of times since I have started playing, yet for all the complexity of the game no events surround this. For some time now I have literally been playing at almost full speed just waiting. I am not suggesting that it should be easier but there should definitely be more events that can happen. Maybe increase the chance but also increase the chance the Earl finds out, which could mean even in the case of fabricating a independent, local Earls declare war as they would figure they might be next. Maybe to thwart the chances of them finding out you need to place a spy. As it stands now however the only thing that seems to happen when they find out is they lose opinion of you which means little as you are already planning to take their land.
I have watched a full tutorial (Arumba) and done the tutorials ingame and have not seen any other mechanics, it could be the case that their is something I am missing, i.e. something I can do to further influence the situation but I am not seeing it. The only two things I know of is 1. making sure Diplomacy is high as possible on your chancellor 2. I have read a few times that they need to like you as their is a chance they are being bribed and thus not fabricating claims but the guy has a high opinion of me, so if there is a mechanic for this I doubt he is taking some money on the side.
As I said not trying to sound like I am bitching, but rather sharing my frustration of the reliance of a single mechanic that seems to have no other events tied to it, meaning when it fails to fire early on your in for one boring ride. I also have tried marrying Earls daughters and such to give myself a claim I can press but they all raise the middle finger too me.
