F12/console not appearing

Installed the game yesterday, started a game as Canada.

I want to add Attu Island to Canada national provinces.

The first time I pressed F12 the console appeared and I was able to give myself money ("money" cheat) to be able to open negotiations with the USA.

I closed it and the second time I pressed F12 (to enable "showid") nothing appeared.

I have restarted the game, started a new game, restarted my computer to start a new game, I still can't get the console to appear.

Anybody else had this?

I have not modified any file. I spent 5 minutes playing the game so far so the only actions I have been able to take (apart from using "money" cheat once) is start building a couple of IC.

I have used the F12 console extensively for testing and not come accross this. I'll see if using "money" makes any difference...

Problem solved!

There is a key next to F12 on my new keyboard which apparently turns the F12 key into a Print short-cut. Was puzzling me why it wouldn't work

Aha - that explains it. I was puzzled, too, because I tried it this evening and had no trouble, no matter which code I used!
