Initially I didn't like the Le Guin update but after logging about 20 hrs in it I'm starting to really like it. The only issue I have is extreme late game lag, which is likely due to all of the entities being tracked. On my first Le Guin I did my usual play through with an absurd amount of habitable planets, this quickly became too hard to control and at a certain poiint in the late game the lag becomes unbearable.
I never had this issue before Le Guin, regardless of my settings. All the same, I booted up a fresh game with the only major change being a large galaxy size.
Once again I hit some serious lag in the very late game, but it occurred much later then usual. Interestingly, the severe lag seemed to strike all at once, it wasn't a slow and steady change. It happened after I began playing the Caravan slots and won the jackpot of +40 minerals and Energy per month for 50 something years.
I know it seems unlikely, but could it be possible that winning that jackpot is the source of lag? I doubt Paradox tested the jackpot's effect on the game very much, so it's possible. I know it seems unlikely and it would make no sense if it was the source of the lag, but it was the only thing that happened to me that rendered the game from a playable 1d every 0.5s to 1d every 2-3s
