Hi all,

I just wanted to ask how i could improve the performance of the game in mp.
i want to play coop with my friend and since the point where we loaded a savegame(we tried several, to be exact) my games is lagging behind for two day s or more.
Our computers are quite similiar:
Amd FX-55/Amd 64 3500
1Gig Corsair ram
Ati x800xl
Windows XP professional(1 with service packs, 1 without em)
160 Gig Hard drive
both have HOi2 v1.2 UPHQ
connection is cable with 4Mbit down/384 kbit upload and we live in the same city and have the same provider
Has anybody got an idea how to fix this issue???
Greetz,
Elprizo

Turn off as much applications as you can. No Icq, Msn, Aol instant messenger and whatnot. Should I really add to also close any peer-to-peer?

384 kb upload should really be enough to host up to 4 people.
At what speed are you trying to play? Anything above normal is asking for lag.

The key is the "speed" you are running the game at. I did extensive testing and we came to the conclusion that once war breaks out you must keep the game at "slow" to avoid lag (assuming all players have good fast computers). Before war breaks out you can usually get away with "below normal". Yes, multiplayer games require a lot of patience.

Or starting in the 39 scenerio *heh*

I've even noticed lag on some of my lan games in the later years. I wondered if this had anything to do with the number of divisions? It seemed that as soon as Russia went to war with its uber stacks that the game lagged. Would going with one of the division reducing type mods help? I know that some out there have a much higher manpower cost or lower manpower pool to represent more realistic division numbers and men available to countries. Definately if you could take your computer over there it wouldn't be a half bad idea. Lan games frequently run at extremely fast until war breaks out. Also, your friend is right there so you can slug him in the arm when he attacks you.
