The game ends in 1948 so it seems very likely that an extended timeline expansion will be released. Let's hope that Paradox don't recycle the old Doomsday campaign again, that would be extremely pretentious and unimaginative. Instead I suggest they should try some alternate post-war scenarios:

1) As Berlin falls, the Nazis makes a final counter-attack they release a horrible airborne virus. Soldiers and civilians alike succumb in a horrible death and all of Central Europe falls silent. Until... The dead rise again and set out on a crusade to eat the brains of the living, the horde of zombies are led by a resurrected Adolf Hitler, but this time they are looking for dodensraum!

Imagine a campaign where you set up quarantine zones and erected barricades in a futile attempt to stop the creeping horde of the living dead? Perhaps Paradox should throw in some missions inside the "plauge zone" where you need to collect samples for the research of an eventual cure? (Like holding Warzaw for 60 days while samples are being gathered)

2) Anarchy scenario: A nazi coup takes over America, Russia falls into civil war and of course England decides to continue the Hundred Years War against France.

3) Becoming the Sun (aka "The Quest for Juche"): A storydriven campaign through the eyes of Kim Il-sung, a young warlord on the rise. He is no ordinary warlord, he is chosen by fate and recieves guidence in his dreams by the ghosts of Lenin and Genghis Khan. You will be faced with tough choices as the ghost's advises may different and perhaps they even have agendas of their own? Who will you trust in your ascendence to godhood

Why not extend it backwards? To 1930 or so, and add some historical, and some alternate scenarios.

I'm more for the extension backwards to. 1933 is a good year to start, when the nazis came to power. Earlier starting-dates than that would also be interesting. Perhaps include the whole interwar period?

I guess it's a bit silly to start talking about expansions when there's still a whole year until the game comes out, but oh well :p

For me, no matter which scenarios they add in a possible expansion, I'd like Paradox to put a bit more thought into them. I mean, I felt the scenarios in both DD and Armageddon were there almost as an afterthough, just a redistribution of provinces, a new OOB and there you go. For example, I'd love a 3rd world war scenario which starts when the one in DD started, but instead of being automatically at war you should have one or two years of peace with a gradual worsening of relations, growing tensions... with some ahistorical event chains, something similar to playing the '36 scenario, and then events for the war itself, surrender events, etc. They might even contact some of the great AAR writers around here to make a good and "realistic" script :)

Another cool scenario could be a 3rd world war between a victorious axis and the USA.

Not necessarily; they'll probably start doing preliminary design on an expansion before the game is even released and knowing what you plan for the expansion allows you to add 'hooks' in the original game to make the expansion easier to produce.

Some people played some French's mod?

It's right its nice to begin earlier. Studying late 20s and early 30s help a lots to understand the situation at the begining of the War. The inhability of French (Aviation) and English to be ready (Army).

But I would prefered an Alien Attack again the world with a correct IA. A scenario was done in a MOD but the IA was too easy to beat. Or a fantasia scenario (as in EU, single province country with x Major country expanding). I want to change from Our Earth.

Why not both? Expand the timeline and allow for a US-USSR showdown. But also throw in some alterate history stuff, like a victorious Germany being in a cold war scenario with the US and the remaining Allies.

Ok so let's try something more anchored in reality:

3) Becoming the Sun (aka "The Quest for Juche"): A storydriven campaign through the eyes of Kim Il-sung, a young warlord on the rise. As much as I do like the idea of zombie game (tried to mod it in myself even once), the way you describe it is...BAD.

Nazis - NO
Mass murder - NO
Rise of dead Hitler - NO

.....

Zombies - Yes

How bout some plausible ones?

A regular '33 or '34 scenario is a must. Jan '36 always seemed like a pretty stupid arbitrary date to me. I love building up the nation for war.

Need to have lots of good alternate history branching paths also.

Maybe an Allies vs. Germans Cold War turned hot?

My personal favorite would be a CnC:Red Alert kind of thing where Hitler never came to power and the Soviets try to overrun Europe. Start it in '39 with a slow build up to total war or something.

At the core level though imo the game needs events that branch out regardless of what a-historical thing you do. Like plausible reactions from other nations. If you win as Germany in USSr it can flow right into a peace treaty and cold war.

Absolutely on all points. Also, the game needs to allow for more wacky and unexpected results. Right now it feels that the game is molded into the standard Germany vs. Allies situation and that anything else is unprovided for.

I think this all could be solved if Paradox leaves start and end date open, so mods and new scenarios can be made starting and finishing whenever people like it. And at the same time, paradox could still stay with the current dates and concentrate its development on 36 to 48 events. So everyone would be happy.

I honestly see no need for such an expansion, 1948 is more than enough time to get done what needs to be done. Why waste resources on this when they could be making the game better? 36-48 is an incredible amount of time, I would wager most average campaigns don't make it past '42 anyway, at the maximum '44 before they become boring because you've already practically won.

The best games last well into the 50s. My favorite game so far was the 1936 Belgium game, which ended in 1958 after the annexation of the USSR. Industrializing the Congo, I fought an effective exile war, lengthening ancillary conflicts considerably. Using the small but well-armed and highly experienced Belgian Army, Norway held for a year, Yugoslavia for 2, and Greece for 6.

Meanwhile, the inaction of the Western Allies allowed the Germans to defeat the Soviets. The Germans invaded and captured all of Britain. Belgian forces from Belfast forced a beachhead in Edinburgh, through which thousands of American troops poured through, crushing the German occupation. After this success, I launched Scandinavian Storm, landing 100,000 Belgians in Norway, eliminating German armies in Scandinavia. After the liberation of Norway, Belgian troops forced a beachhead in Kiel. After a six-year campaign fought only with Belgian, Norwegian and Canadian armies, Belgium had managed to capture all of Germany, the Low Countries (including the homeland) and Austria. Soviet forces swept through Poland and the USA invaded and secured France from the west. In 1949, Belgian troops liberated India from Japanese rule. With the USA pushing from the east, Belgium rising from the south and the UK landing in China, Japan collapsed. Belgium gained control of India (the provinces never returned to British control, wtf?!), Indochina and much of Southern China. After two years, the USA finally landed on Japan and annexed the country in 1951. Barely three hours after the annexation of Japan, the USSR declared war on the Belgian puppet in FRG. With the majority of Belgian forces in India, the Germans fell. France held for some time but also fell. Belgian forces redeployed to Scandinavia, where they held the Soviets in Lapland, only to be flanked by Soviet hordes charging across from Denmark. After assaulting the Grey Fortress of Europe, Belgium had to plan an assault on the Red Fortress. The USA actually took the initiative for once and landed in Bordeaux. The USA held the beachhead but was unable to break out. Another British landing in Normandy held. From the Congo, the Belgian Army (by this time, 600,000 men) struck Italy and regained control of the boot only to be surrounding by a Yugoslavian landing in Taranto. Belgian forces held in the pocket for 8 months until the French front had progressed and linked up with the Belgian pocket. The Belgian army then launched its attack into the Balkans grabbing huge amounts of land for the Belgian Kingdom. By the end of that offensive, all former Austro-Hungarian lands were Belgian. From this stronghold, Belgium progressed all the way to Stalingrad. Belgium ended up in control of everything from Rome to Astrakhan. The USA annexed the USSR in 1958, after a 22 year game, with 18 of them spent at war.

That is why we need to have some extra years, even if they are not developed fully.

IMHO the 1936 date is not arbitary as this was the Year that the NSDAP took total control of Germany and the German Republic became the 3rd Reich. If my memory serves me correctly it was in 1936 that Hitler 'cast-off' the dictates of Versailles (someone please correct me on this if I am mistaken).

I fully agree with you on the need for more events/decisions which take into account alternatives to real history.
