Okay, check this out. I know, people have said it, that we CANNOT extend this game into the 20th century. I understand that. But I hate it. I want to keep going, keep playing without playing the same stuff over again all the time. I understand that "modern" wars, beginning with WW1 cannot be handled by the engine. What I am suggesting, if at all possible, is a patch. I am not proficient enough to try this, but if someone has the ambition, I'm sure it could be done!!!! First off, extend the time period to be decided by the player, or at least until the year 2000. Secondly, try to impliment things like the consolidation of culuraly areas like Germany or Italy. I guess you would have to be a pro. Secondly, throw in random national revolts from areas occupied or even colonized by European powers such as Africa of the 50's through 60's. Lastly, changing the look of the troops and ships. Let war work the same way. I understand that the war wouldn't be historically accurate but it's more just to continue the game than anything else. The only thing I can't really think of is the Air Force battles and how you would add planes. Although it's a major loss, It's just to really extend the gameplay. Someone lemme know if it's somewhat possible.

Thanx,
Sinykal

I could just be getting ahead of myself. I thought that maybe it could be done through a patch. Like the creation of a new senario or something. I'm no computer expert so I may just be making demands that can't possibly be achieved, but I just wanted to see what peoples reactions would be. Does anyone agree with me that an extension of the game would be nice? Or am I just asking for 2 much?

Thanx,
Sinykal:D

For me 400 years are more than enough, and it would be a lot of work putting around new events and leaders. Also, I don't think that the EU2 engine, as it is now, can be extended to the XIXth-XXth centuries. Said that, I don't know any reason for any player wishing to forfeit those limitations to play until year 3000 if he wishes to, so I hope the gampeplay dates are not hardcoded and can be edited via scenario creation.

Your idea would only make sense if you start a game in 1800 or so, because if you play from 1420 on, I guess it will become pretty boring after 1820. And even if you can extend the timeline, how do you want to simulate railroads, industrial revolution, communism, nuclear bombs (just a few examples)?

There's another couple of games (well: i can think of at least 3 ;) )that can do what you are asking...

the core target of EU is historical accuracy (well... if you forget about some AI problems and the needed reduction of the model) and I doubt you could play that long.

Even more curious is the fact that it seems that EU2 will be more interesting in the "Scenarios" area, since everybody is going to take a look at that nice 6-6-6-2 guy  that shows up after the French Revolution...
