In my current game I joined Lucifers Own and worked myself all the way up to the priest rank, unfortunatelly I was revealed as demon worshipper which is a shame as I am only 30 years old and had so many prosperous decades bevor me. Now hated as traitor to god ill have to either live with it or try to abdicate.
I'm not even mad but there are some things I do not comprehend:
I get that normal folk hates me now as a excommunicated worshipper of the devil, but why exactly do my fellow dark brothers and sisters get a negativ relation towards me? I would understand if they were disapointed and had a opinion mali for couple years, but a life long-50 opinion + the excommunication mali? Thats a bit much I believe!
Besides I have the feeling that the game lacks the opertunity for one to atone for ones sins. I would love to see some event Chain where you could:
  • Get help from your secret society to maintain and stay in office as other probably will try to kill one or depose (especially the witch hunters)
  • Be excluded and banished of your society as they see you as incautious weakling who was caught, resulting in the Player beeing:
    • Exposed to the threat all alone (wich probably leads to death)
    • Given the Chance to atone for all sins and wrong doing at cost of lots of money, prestige and piety. This would guide the Player back to ways of christ and abandon the dark lord. Maybe one could be forced to become a witch hunter and reveal other worshippers who then would be hunted
    • If suported by the societey or if high priest the player could pretend to become Christian again, succeding with high enough intrigue and if enough Converted bishops are helping.
Beside that the Player should be able to do the walk to ganossa like Henry IV. did in 1077 in order to lift his excommunication in exchange for prestige and piety.

Well those are some thoughs I had concerning the worshipper society and excomunications. Feel free to share yours as well. :)

Sounds great. Or you could stand in a blizzard for three days at the cost of prestige but with a large piety gain and a significant health disadvantage during those three days.

Yeah, why should other cultists hate you for being "known devil worshiper"? That doesn't make any sense - but it is probably hard-coded somewhere?

They NEED to hate you as much an anybody else to not atteract suspission. And beleave me, they do! Probably even more than non-members. It´s just the reason beeing wrong, as they hate you for beeing exposed, making their life harder.

Well okay, you've got the point.

IMHO at least sinners shouldn't get negative reaction from other sinners.
Or characters with high suspicion from other characters with high suspicion, at least if they're from the same society.

Funny thing - different dude from my recent dynasty was a member of Benedictine Order - and his fellow was burned at the stake for being a member. That's clearly overzealous behavior of an AI witch-hunting court chaplain. :p
