OK, I must be doing something wrong possibly? Been playing 3 days now only.

This is my 2nd city, 50,000+ etc, but my main bugbear is that I have huge stockpiles of Natural Resources. They just get bigger and bigger.

So, I built a railroad with railroad freight, ship freightyards and ports, all appear to be very busy, yet my resources never get exported?

Is there some point to airports, less than 40 visitors a day?
Railroads cost a fortune to build, yet don't seem to ship anything much?
Lots of ferries and container ships, but nothing much appears to be exported, lots imported?

I tried zoning the city areas, didn't appear to affect things much?

3 days in and I'm beginning to feel "is that all there is to this game"?

EDIT: to clarify. I have had a great 3 days of enjoyment playing this game. But I think I have reached the point in the game where I'm spending my time attending to the citizens complaints and trying to fix the traffic jams etc etc. It appears to be that you reach a point where it all becomes a chore and you may as well start over?

The building part was great fun, the managing a city not so ...

Sorry I am using some "extra information mod"

Forgot to mention that I have power stations that say they have no fuel... ??

I think you just need to start some generic industries to use up the goods. Maybe those will get exported by trains/ships. It could also be that that extra information mod is reading / displaying incorrect/incomplete information.

About the 'feeling like I won' feeling; this largely depends on your play style. I've only played a single city since release, and after unlocking the 25 tiles, I feel like I can keep playing in and expanding that city for a long while to come.
I guess it's really down to the play style.

About tourists; yeh, they currently seem bugged, or at least, not very useful.

Available is only the stuff that you could theoretically use if you built dedicated industry ontop of it. Its how much oil/ore is still in the ground and how many trees you could cut down every week. Its not the stockpile of your industry.

Use the resource overview (looks like 3 boxes I think) and it should highlight the map with varying colors. Deep green is forest, blue is ore, light green is agriculture, blackish is oil.

Zone some industry over those areas, district them, then click the icon to map the industry type. I.E. tractor for light green farming, oil drop for dark oil section etc.

The current industry will blow up and rebuild as that type.

Fun fact farming and logging cause no polution so you can have them closer to city

Thanks for the good advice. Yes, I will go and look for those 3 boxes. Knew I had to be missing something?

Another point. Notice how wood says "units/week" but ore and oil only say "units". Wood and agriculture are infinite but oil and metal eventually run out. Once you do, they will start importing oil and ore, process it, and then export it. Wood and Agriculture will build farms/lumber fields in resource rich areas and food processors/lumber mills in resource poor areas or at a given ratio.

These primary industries DO NOT produce goods of their own. They either sell their products to secondary industries (unspecialized industry) or export them if internal demand is insufficient.

In other words, If I understand you correctly, you're suggesting it may be better to dezone oil/ore after you exhaust the resources for that spot (or move it) unless you have amazing traffic layout since they will have effectively double the traffic of lumber/farming right?

Yeah pretty much. Unless the extra income you get from a complete supply chain is more than the extra cost of infrastructure (a train station; harbor; highway; fire station) then may not even be worth it. In my current city i had to build all four of those things and I am financially worse off than i was before.
