Disclaimer: I haven't played any HOI games so I don't really know a lot on how they were. But did they include weird ''exploits'' (like core cost on EU IV with separate continents + island/ truce exploit etc) or any ''exploits'' or things close to be called ''exploits'' present in previous HOI games and will there be in IV?

I don't think many people would like to have exploit based games to achieve whatever they desire in-game but maybe that's just me...

Not an exploit as such but I believe that in older versions of HOI3 you would get the manpower of defeated nations allowing you to snowball even as a minor.

Absurdly large fleet stacks have been pretty prevalent in all HoI's.
In HoI 2? you could game the AI through trade since they had a fixed value for resources disregarding supply and demand.

yeah thats pretty much the same case in hoi3 i feel, probably explains why its all being changed for hoi4, take the techs that allow you to produce cheaper supplies, and excess power then trade your enemies stockpiles down.

Every game has exploits, it's just a matter of how game-breaking, how obvious, and how unrealistic they are. The one biggie in HOI3 was that a non-aligned nation could declare war after war against other unaligned nations, and that would eventually cause the UK to declare war.....on Germany, not you. The later expansions also allowed you to set "wargoals" in an ally's war and take most of the land after the surrender, despite never having a unit fire a shot or occupy a province in the entire war. Other than occupation troops, you didn't even need an army to take over half the world. I recall that Toughness and Defensiveness were broken in the original release up until the last patch for the first expansion (and were NEVER fixed for air units), so you could save a ton of research by not boosting roughly half of the techs and doctrines which were related to them.

I guess the players will find the exploits quickly enough in HOI4; there are certainly a lot of players who excel at it.

I have it on good authority that the biggest exploit in HOI4 will be having your national dog bark at the scientists to speed up research. It turns out there is a loophole in the ahead of time penalties where the national dog bypasses those penalties, giving Germany nukes in 1941 if they are careful.

There was this one exploit, if it counts as one. Back in vanilla it was super cheap to make tanks. And so you would make lots and lots of tanks and it was awsome. You can't do that now. Well you can, but it's certainly a hell of a lot harder to do because its more expensive to make tanks.
