There is so many exploits in the game at the moment whether it is stacking castles in one province or even the invite to court exploit. Alot have been around for a while, if not even since release. I know of many myself and my current favourite is being able to build all castles in my capital duchy. Because troops > everything else.

But there are alot of bugs out there that I myself might not even know about, let alone the devs. So my question is this, what is your favourite exploit?

I'm not going to use my favourite exploit to start off because it is rather boring, so I thought I would start off with something which I doubt many even know about. Milking your steward.

What is that I hear you ask. Well there is an event that allows you to take all your stewards cash, every dime. The event triggers in your yearly pulse and the only requirement that is needed is that your steward is greedy. If your stewardship is 10+ or you have diligent, than you get a 3x multiplier for each, increasing your chances considerably. If you do trigger the event and fail to get the cash, it will take 3 years before you can get the event again, or just simply get another steward to milk. This is especially great for farming republics or holy orders for cash.

Not sure how stacking castles is an exploit, you trade income for levy.
Removing Magical multipliers (+50%/25% capital / 25%/15% capital duchy bonus, Train Troops 50-60%+) would curb hyper-capital benefits considerably.

Actual exploits should be fixed - stacking castles is not an exploit. This does not mean that the related values, mechanics and systems should never be tweaked or adjusted to fix flaws - such as stacking castles being better currently than other alternatives. In earlier versions it was better to stack cities - again not a exploit but at the time it too needed to be tweaked.

The only exploit I will talk about is a bug that I hope will be fixed in the next released patch: Keeping your tribal steward out in the field "settling tribe" after you switch to feudalism. With this bug, it is quite easy to convert all cultures to yours in record time and with little trouble.

An exploit is using a mechanic or a system beyond its intended use.

I see, what you consider "stacking castles" is different than what I consider "stacking castles". Your version is an exploit of a bug. I agree. I'd call this something different but to each their own.

How do you even DO that, castle stacking?

Rulership focus with WoL. It allows you to build a castle in a province, so long as there is space for it to be built. That example is actually an Ironman game, which I have been meaning to get back into, but been too busy.

There is a small chance of it not being built or costing more, but typically you get it built far cheaper. Like 400 gold off the top of my head, instead of the increasing costs. The downside is obviously waiting for the event to fire.

It involves an event from WoL involving the Architect trait. Unless there is more than one way around the normal restrictions that I'm not aware of. There is at least one bug report on this issue filed.

Huh. That is, indeed, a bug. I'm not even sure how you'd fix it. A global flag? Character flag, that just solves until you inherit...

At this point: fix the bugs is more important than fixing exploits, although both should happen. I Think there should be no more CK2 DLCs Before we have had a couple of general fix patches (since adding more content means more bugs,l and better just fix all the lingering problems now before adding new ones).

P'dox please patch my lack of self-control.

Games are supposed to challenge the player. The notion to have self-control in a competitive game is nonsensical.

Depends doesn't it.

I play for the challenge too. Some people play for the ability to experience a famous dynasty or period in history. Some people play for the ability to mod and tweak things (I do a lot of this). Some people play for a goal they set. There are lots of ways and reasons to play this kind of game.

Even if that was true (and it isn't, necessarily) it is ludicrous to say self-control isn't required in a 'competitive' game. These exploits aren't even part of standard gameplay, you have to go OUT OF YOUR WAY to make use of them. It is an active and concerted effort to skirt the game's intended playstyle. In a game that sprawls like CK2 does there will always be exploitable elements, holding the devs responsible for 'fixing' each and every one of those when the only thing a player has to do for it to not affect gameplay at all is TO NOT DO IT is ridiculous.
