Hello, all!

I was re-watching some of the WWW streams in anticipation of the game coming out within a month and few days and kept coming across something that peaked my curiosity (enough so as to make a forum account to ask around about it since I saw no threads or posts on the matter).

When Daniel was messing around in the Laws & Government section of the game where you can spend political power to recruit ministers and such, I noticed he had the option to recruit either a Cavalry Expert or an Armor Specialist to give his army certain bonuses.

Difference.png

As you might have surmised from the title, I was wondering if anyone knew what the difference is between a "specialist" and an "expert". Is it like generals and field marshals where one has bonuses that aren't available to the other? Or is there some other difference gameplay wise?

only way to know is to be put in this position and put your mouse over both icons to see the attributes, im assuming though expert effects a wider range when specialist effects a small range but more

armour probably relates specifically to LARM, MARM, HARM, SP TD, SPART focussing on attack
cavalry relating to CAV, MECH, MOT (and maybe armour) focussing on mobility.

That'd be my guess

The funny thing is he actually does mouse over each one long enough for you to catch the stats if you pause the video (The Hungary Games #2, about 5:30 mins in), but other than a few more bonuses there didn't seem to be any real difference that I could spot. I thought maybe someone else might know something about the two minister types.

It looks that way, doesn't it? Unless the devs say otherwise, that must be it. I actually hope they devote a dev diary to talking more in depth about tech companies and ministers. More than they have, anyway.

Even without the screenshots I would have assumed that the expert just gives a bigger bonus.
A specialist is someone who puts his focus on a specific field.
An expert is a specialist who ammased knowledge in that specific field.

You guys should read the wiki sometime.

So it's not clickbait, the relevant part is:

"Up to three military high command may be selected. There appear to be three skill levels for these - specialist, expert and genius. Higher skill levels have the same political power cost, but provide greater bonuses."

So for instance the "armoured" high command officers give these bonuses:

Armoured specialist: 5% armoured attack/defense bonus
Armoured expert: 10% armoured attack/defense bonus
Armoured genius: 15% armoured attack/defense bonus
