What exactly isn't dynamic like CK that by this time you were still expecting?

Dynastic, not dynamic. I was hoping (not expecting) that EUIII would use the lineage system from CK, maybe not to the full extent of CK, but maybe something more simplified like the system from Knights of Honour. Just to add a flavour of RP to the game, but it certainly hasn't been a dealbreaker for me.

Alright. I've been having this problem with the demo and I want to know if anyone else has noticed it. I was playing as Venice in the League of Cambrai campaign. Let's just say... I got stomped. Like horribly. But that wasn't the problem. First of all, I started out with a wimpy navy. In fact, the austrian navy in the Med was larger than mine.   So, when the austrians/french/aragonese teamed up on me, my navy was toast. What I noticed: When you have your navy in a port and that port is blockaded, my navy would automatically attack the blockading navy no matter how powerful it was. Shouldn't I have the power to order that? Why does my navy automatically attack? Also, my navy was somewhere off the coast of Italy and it spotted an enemy navy in an adjacent sea square. So it automatically attacks....... :eek:o Why does my navy have a mind of its own?

I love it. This game is going to be awesome, and it seems pretty stable too.

Some Things, some already mentioned:

No Auto-Pause. Seriously, what? I can't fathom a reason why it would be removed, except the possibility for abuse in Multiplayer. But it would have been nice if it was at least usable in SP.

Overlapping text, I'm experiencing the same thing.

Occasionally, units seem to be sunk into the ground, with their shins the lowest part visible.

Also, units boarding ships seem to have their move arrows go straight through the ground, making it difficult to determine their progress.

Exploration is too easy, but this might be solved by much shorter explorer lifespans, two years or less, maybe. Or a combination of shorter lifespans and slower ships.

The game is a bit laggy. Though I just scrape the minimum RAM, so that's to be expected, I guess.

Otherwise, awesome game. Nice work, paradox. :)

Played as Milan, became Papal controller  . My techs chugged along and I handled trade well, I colonized two African provinces, and by the time I quit I was #8 in prestige. Still, though, a great deal of the time seemed to consist of, sitting staring at the screen trying to think of something to do. Is this problem just me? Anyone have any ideas for what I can do to spice up my game? (~with any country)

To change regiment names you must edit the save. I.e. you can't do it ingame.
Is that just in the demo, or will that be in the full game? I mean, why not, because there have been other games (Vicky, HoI1&2) that have allowed this.

Start as France. Immediately DOW and annex the nearest one-province minor. Repeat a few times...then defend yourself against the retribution of the known world.

Actually, I would suggest trying to replicate the beta AAR I did as Saxony. See if you can become the HRE (and then set off on crusade if you still have time).

Actually Deo, you do know it's not going to work for you (as you have a card that does not support PS 2.0 IIRC). This is not something you can tweak/fiddle or mod your way out of - that's just the way it is.

Since it's such a great game, and its wonders are many and famous, I'll avoid the good stuff (like the notice of expiring CB, hooray! Oh, and capturing ships in combat! AI peace offers don't seem ridiculous either, and renunciation of claims is great.) and just point out a few minor annoyances:

* Edge of screen scrolling - applies several pixels wide around the edge, which is incredibly annoying on every game that does this! PLEASE Johan, can we scroll when the mouse cursor is touching the very edge ONLY? I keep accidentally scrolling every time I want to get a tooltip for the icons along the top, or to click the increase speed button, etc.

* Popup and pause - where has this option gone? In EU2 I had every single popup window set to pause the game. I understand this is fine for multiplay, but why remove a feature that was heavily relied upon? (Well, I relied on it, anyway ;) ) [EDIT: Glad to see I'm not the only one]

* The event log automatically scrolls to the wrong end. [EDIT: Sorry, just realised this was heavily redundant!]

And I won't mention trading :D.

Ok, I will: isn't it a bit unfair that, as in EU2, your chances of grabbing a spot in a COT depend on how you time your merchant spamming? I don't mind having to manually send merchants, but I do mind having to micromanage the sending of a cluster of them. A better system would be one in which competing out another merchant means taking their place, and filling an empty space wasn't automatic to the first merchant that gets there in time. Manually sending merchants is fine as long as queuing them all on the same day is as effective as sending them a few days apart, and that sending one by himself isn't completely useless, which it currently is.

i love it, but am having an issue with the event scroller...whenever a new news item appears on it it flicks to the top, to the really old items...not allowing me to keep up to date with current events....anyone else encountered this?
