Now, even though their troops were getting cut down, they had advanced enough to open small arms fire. While the tank on tank battle raged on, with the reloader rushing to reload the tank gun more than ever, so they could get another chance to destroy their opponents, something terrifying happened. American artillery of all calibers, 75mm, 105mm, 155mm, 203mm and probably naval guns all opened fire, as well as a fresh regiment sized amount of troops came rushing towards us. "Ich denke dies ist unser letze stunde für unser einheit. Das ist ein amis regiment!" I shouted over the noise of bombardment to a random soldier beside us. Before he was able to reply, a shell ripped through the building killing him, and creating a large hole. It was too high to jump from but fortunately we had steps to go down. As the artillery shells rained down from the sky , another shell tore through our position and it smashed the steps meaning we had no choice but to stay up here. It also had a demoralising effect on morale.
As we now wait impatiently for the enemy, their aircraft begin to strafe down on us. An officer still on the streets shots "Flieger einheit gesichet" when one of their planes swoops down and machine guns him to death.
