Great job Vax :D. If there was something as a Kaiserreich Order of Merit you would surely deserve it.

Hell, I hereby present you with the Grand Service to the Kaiserreich Mod Cookie *

Just a small question: did you change Stalinabad (Dushanbe, Kirovabad (Ganja), Frunze (Bishkek) and Semipalatinsk (Alash-Qala) too?

As for the whole Hungarian citynames debate. I feel both sides have presented their case more than enough, perhaps with more zeal then required. I will ask everyone to close the debate, unless someone actually has something new to add to it.

@ Thure: I asked Vax to change those names to their English ones, as those where the ones used most at that time. Basically for the same reason as Alexandria and Cairo aren't renamed al-Alexandriyya and al-Qahira.

Hey guys, I really don't want to stir up trouble. This is the last post I'm going to make on this matter.
I see that Bromberg and Posen got German names. This is fine, as in Germany, these were the official names of these towns (and they lack English names). But at that very moment we are discussing Hungary you start arguing, talking about minorities (everywhere else ignored, not to mention that most of the cities never had minority names before WWI) and Austrian dominance. I have no problem with leaving the Hungarian cities' names as they are (ofc I'd like to see Hungarian names for Hungarian owned towns), but I'd really like to see an explanation why you are using this double standard. There is a REAL German dominance (represented as puppet status) over Flandern-Wallonien, yet no one is talking about renaming their towns. In contrary to Hungary, which is not a real puppet (as portrayed by the game 1937 Ausgleich, heck, even Ausgleich means egalisation), and its not on the same level of independence as Galizien, Bohemia or Bosnia (in the game: Austria and Hungary are the major players who decide what goes to who).
So if you don't like Hungarian language, and find it fuzzy (this i can absolutely understand), then just say its because of this, and I'll stop. I'll lose some illusions, though.

PS. I'm a native German, but I simply hate Double Standard. That's why I posted. Really sorry if I disturbed you...
many thanks,
yxc qwert

Oh, I simply forgot about Gulbene :) And Sudeten, I've already fixed them. I'm still waiting for the final desision on Bohemia.

Oh thank you good sir. I wll immediately place it on my desktop. No, my mantle! ©

Stalinabad etc. - yes I did.

What's with Sudeten and Bohemia?
That's marvelous Vax. Great job :D
Thanks ;)

This is my PoW too. It means Slovakia and Transylvania should get Hungarian names. Hungarian "sphere of influence" within A-H - maybe too.
Then Romanov-on-the-Murman call Murmansk :D

There's Komsomolsk-na-Amure in modern Russia ;) And no more Komsomol for 20 years :D
Yekaterinburg is center of Sverdlovsk Region (!) and SPb is center of Leningrad Region - everything is so mixed in Russia :D

No problem.
From Dermaglen new post I gather that the whole thing is anyway down to misunderstanding and his falsy employing of the term "Magyarised" for integrated populations, while it is only valid for assimilated ones.
As I already said: I support his position for Hungarian names in Hungarian owned territory, so I guess, at least in this Thread, we have a majority for these. :)

Do you think this could be also useful for 1914 mod?

By the way, someone should really split Venice into Venice/Trieste or Venice/Trieste/Pola, otherwise it's just a punch in the eye...

@ xcz qwert, narmon and others

Seems the discussion about German Poland, Sudeten and Hungary continues. Let me give the vision of the team on those matters.

We asked Vax to change Torun, Posen and Bydgoszcz to German because these area's had a very large German population, would have been Germanified after the War, lie in a country with one dominant language and culture and because the German names for these cities where better known than the Polish names before WW1.

We didn't change anything yet in Hungary, simply because we couldn't agree what the best approach would be. As Dermaglen stated, the Hungarian names would have been used without a doubt as official names by the Hungarians themselves. However, there are big differences between Hungary and the Polish provinces in Germany.
For one, the Poles would be a small minority in a Ging to German Reich, with the choice to either accept German dominance or moving to Poland. The minorities in Hungary where numerous, vocal and being given influence to a certain level. Slovenia can even become an independent state in the Mod, if Hungary chooses to do so. A Slovak develloper pointed out that the Slovakians themselves never used the Hungarian names. I think there is a good case for Magyarisation of the names and a good case against the Magyarisation of the names and have therefore asked Vax not to change these names before there would be a beginning of a consensus on this subject.

On Transsylvania: I think a mix of Romanian and Hungarian names would be best in this case. Especially since Craiova was annexed in the aftermath of the War in Kaiserreich canon, increasing the Romanian presence in Hungary.

As for the Sudeten, I guess a combination of Czech and German would be in order, since Bohemia is a Czech-dominated state now, but the Austrians would make sure that the German minority would be respected. I propose leaving Prague in English (the ambiguous choice), Kutna Hora in Czech and the actual Sudeten in German.

I hope everyone can keep the discussion friendly from now on. The discussion between Dermaglen and Dutchemperor went from an exchange of arguments for or against renaming to a heated discussion on the nature of Hungary's treatment of minorities.
